If winter in Australia is such that one can wear shorts, I want to move there straight away, even though it's so far away! (I'm from Europe) Lovely photos! Wandering Polka Dot

Post image for Monday Quote: What You Feel

“Your worst battle is between what you know and what you feel.”  Read more »

Kristin C -Aug 21, 2014, 6:09PM
I actually think this is misleading. Our feelings can be very inaccurate. Our feelings are not always something we should follow. Sometimes, we must go on what we know. Just because we think or feel or believe something doesn't mean it is true. Girls with anorexia who are extremely underweight. But that doesn't mean she needs to lose weight. A man may feel like he should break up with his girlfriend, but it may be that, deep down, his feelings come from fear of commitment or rejection. A fear of commitment is no reason to end a good relationship, but if that man were to follow his feelings, the relationship would be over.

This is the second time in two weeks that I hear someone mention halloumi. It sounds so good, where can I get some of it?? I haven't seen a Greek store near me :( the kale and the burger both look really good. Great recipe!

As a vegan, is there a substitute I could use for the egg in this recipe? Looks delicious, would love to try the vegan version :)

Post image for A Finger Lakes Travel Guide

A last minute decision lead us on an impromptu road trip to the Finger Lakes – an area of my home state, New York, thus named for the 11 long skinny bodies of water making up the region. Dog in tow, we set out on a two-day adventure of wine tasting, cheese sampling, hiking, and more. Read more »

Post image for Download Our August Calendar!

I’ll admit it, I have been trying to pretend that today is not the first day of August.  I can’t believe how quickly this summer is going, and I’ve been enjoying it far too much for it to be nearing its end already.  That said, I’m also trying to tell myself that it’s not over yet… and to make the most of these remaining summer days while they’re still here. Cheers, August. Read more »

Post image for Celebrate Watermelon Day With Agua Fresca

There’s no other fruit that embodies summer quite like the watermelon. A warm-weather essential for gatherings and backyard parties, it seems only fitting that this iconic melon should have its own holiday, and this Sunday is exactly that: National Watermelon Day. You may not get the day off from work, but August 3rd is still a day worth celebrating. Read more »

Post image for 4 Tips For Purchasing a Vintage Film Camera

I am personally used canon 1100d model; I want to know actually what the main tricks to take a professional photograph. Anyone help or suggest me ?
Liz -Aug 17, 2014, 3:19AM
A useful tool for picking out a film camera is flickr. There are groups devoted to different cameras (pretty much every camera that has ever existed) and you can get an idea of how the photos will turn out because someone else has already done the work for you! The photographers are also usually specific about film type and speed which can help you decide what kind of film to buy.

Petra -Aug 03, 2014, 5:42PM
This post makes me think: What is a home? Or what makes a home? For me, it's exactly something like this: a place with a soul and what is the most important, with memories hanging on the wall and hidden on the shelves, with all those books, souvenirs, prints and flea market treasures. For my boyfriend, its something that looks perfectly modern and preferably cold enough, (something like this) with empty walls or a bit of futurism and to be honest, when I see such interiors like Xochi's I just cannot imagine living in a different space. Especially the second picture is something like in my dreams...

Post image for Decor Inspiration: Decorating With Air Plants

Lately I’ve been incorporating more and more plants into my decor at home. Read more »

Meriel -Aug 04, 2014, 8:32AM
I love that hanging wood + air plant combo! My husband and I own Air Plant Design Studio and we love seeing new ways to decorate with them. Free People is personally one of my favorite brands and I was pretty excited to see your take on them - awesome! To answer Clara's question above, air plants don't need to grow roots. The "roots" that you sometimes see on them are not used to take in nutrients but rather for when the plant is in the wild and wants to attach itself to something (like a tree). Sometimes we'll remove them from our plants for a cleaner look but if you have one without, they won't likely grow back. We have an informative section on air plant care on our site if you need any additional information! :)
Clara -Aug 02, 2014, 1:31PM
So cute! I bought one two weeks ago and I was still searching the best way to display it. I wonder though, how to their roots grow in a pot like the clay one you show? They can't attach to anything? or will they just spread in it? Mine is in a glass and it doesn't seem to grow any roots...
