White is so lovely, I am glad I came across this post! I find that sleeping with white sheets/ comforter is far more peaceful and relaxing than using bedding with bold or vibrant colors and patterns!

Post image for A Day In The Life Of Our Buyers

I followed our buyers around a for a few days in LA while they were on a research trip. They work fast with a good eye and know exactly what to seek out. We met in the morning around 8am in the Chamberlain West Holiday Hotel and then headed out to our destinations; vintage warehouses, vintage stores, high end boutiques, and cool concept stores to get inspired. How do these ladies become buyers? I would LOVE to work with FP one day, its my ultimate DREAM. Do they have a college degree? if so, what do most buyers major in or have experience with? I am currently selling my own handmade jewlery and pieces at a store in Lancaster and I am going to college. I want to take the appropriate steps forward to some day work in the Free People home office and I am totally curious how these girls get these jobs! If you could get back to me that would be wonderful! I sent a letter to the home office a few months ago but I never heard anything back. Thanks SO much! xo Kacey Royer kroyer6060@gmail.com

Post image for An Interview With Mara Hoffman

Mara Hoffman was born in Buffalo, NY and is now based in New York City, creating collections season by season, delivering a colorful array of prints and interesting silhouettes. She manages to bridge the gap between hippie cool and contemporary fashion and always has her signature prints present in her collections. Her designs have worldly influences and a flair for fantasy. This month we launched a special collection of Mara’s pieces that are unique and eye catching. Here’s an interview with the lovely designer!

Love this post! I'm gluten free because of an intolerance, and my sister is for Celiac's Disease. I tried to eat vegetarian before this, but after having to cut out gluten it felt like there wasn't much to eat if I didn't include meats. Now there's hope! Hopefully I can eat vegan and only humanely raised meats like you soon, college makes it difficult. Excited to try the recipes, thanks again :) Abby

I'm not sure what Dani means by "exotic." Chickpea flour, almond flour, etc can all be purchased online & even made at home in your blender. And the expense of healthy eating is barely there when you see the lack of medical expenses! Love your posts, Beth. I look forward to more! Instagram: organicandhappy

I"m lucky enough to be in India studying with my teachers now and was here for the long Holi celebration. It's amazing! Everyone is so happy and the divisions between the cast systems relax. My whole head and shoulders were covered in the brightest pink, green, yellow, and blue I've ever seen! You can give money to the kids if you don't want to be covered in holi powder, which the the way to go after one round of washing your holi laundry!
Aasia -Apr 06, 2013, 2:15PM
...its called Gulal, the holi powder. You can make some herbal, chemical free Gulal at home using basic turmeric powder mixed with double quantity of gram flour(to get yellow color), and gram flour(besan) are brilliant beauty masks as well.

Post image for DIY Painted Feathers

I’ve always loved the idea of painting fake feathers, and with festival season underway it seemed like the perfect time to do it.  I originally thought of these purely as decorations but then it occurred to me that they’d be a great finishing touch for a festival outfit. Read more »

It's important to keep in mind that in many states and on federal land, possession of feathers from certain wild birds is illegal, even if one finds them on the ground.
