Post image for Office Style

This week office style there was a little bit of summer in people’s wardrobes, washed denim and little florals made an appearance, accessorized with hats, soft layers and beaten up boots. The temperature dropped a little this week making outfits a bit more breeze friendly.

Post image for Exitmusic at Milkboy Philadelphia

I first heard of the band Exitmusic when I was in Brooklyn for the Northside Festival a couple of weeks ago, and they blew me away with their expansive, breathtaking sound that sent chills down my spine. When I found out they were playing a show at Philadelphia’s Milkboy this week I was eager to see them again and sit down with the band for a quick interview.

Exitmusic consists of married couple Aleksa Palladino and Devon Church – and if Aleksa looks familiar to you, its probably from her role as Angela Darmody (the wife of Jimmy, Michael Pitt’s character) on Boardwalk Empire.  Read more »

Post image for Mediterranean Pasta Salad with Raw Squash from Cookie & Kate

This recipe comes from vegetarian food blogger, Kate, of Cookie & Kate. I love her blog because it’s chockfull of unexpected food combinations that approach the vegetarian and whole foods lifestyle with zest. Just because you choose to eat food close to the source and in season doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun. With her pup Cookie by her side, it seems like Kate is always playing it up in the kitchen, and it shows through in her recipes.

Post image for Destination: Essaouira, Morocco

Morocco has been a destination on my wish list ever since I started to stalk the magnificent riads on the Essaouira coast. Essaouira has always intrigued me – it’s a late-18th-century fortified town, constructed according to the principles of contemporary European military architecture. It’s a charming town that I would one day love to visit.

were there any windows inside that room??
Lilyanna -Jun 30, 2012, 6:01PM
I've been there! I studied for a school year in Morocco and it was amazing! Essaouira was my favorite town in Morocco by far! Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, and Cat Stevens were also mesmerized by Essaouira and spent a lot of time there. So many cool rastas roam the streets and it has such a laid-back vibe! I'd definitely recommend going there. Also check out Chefchaouen, Morocco!

yes, sometimes I am afraid to wear certain things because not everyone reacts the same way to what you wear or what you look like. And, it is difficult because sometimes I just can't find enough pieces to make something new.

Post image for Fashion Trend: Paradise Island

Product: Cirque Trapeze Dress

Paradise Island is our trend this week. Bright colors and bold prints make you thirsty for some kind of island vacation; one where the sun is hot, the ocean is clear and the atmosphere just makes you feel as free as can be.

Post image for A Diary from Wanderlust Festival

It was an escape that ended all too soon, Wanderlust. The setting, the classes, the people – I learned so much on all levels of mind, body, and spirit. Motivated – full of love, peace, and happiness – I never wanted to leave.

But I suppose that leaving is a part of the whole experience, isn’t it? Being able to take that cultivated energy back to your everyday life is more of a challenge than building it in the festival’s nourishing environment. The challenge is sustaining even when you aren’t surrounded by the positive influences and reminders.

I just got back from Wanderlust Whistler. While I understand why this festival is appealing to some people, I can't say I'm one of them. To me, the festival seems a lot less about yoga than it is a massive commercial enterprise and cult of yoga celebrity.
Sue Neely -Jun 28, 2012, 4:11AM
I wish I could have gone to Wanderlust! I'll get over it, however, since I just heard the news of Free People's new yoga collection! Can't wait! Sue http://www.myfavoritestyles.com

Post image for Album of the Week: Beachwood Sparks “The Tarnished Gold”

Beachwood Sparks is one of those bands that seems like they belong in the sixties – sweet, swirling psychedelic rock with a country twinge that should be listened to on a sunny day spent barefoot in the park. Read more »

I am absolutely fond of this album. I actually just traveled back from Grand Targhee Music festival, and I am appauled that you did not feature it on your blog. Please consider looking world wide for these music outbursts, including Wyoming. This festival is full of bluegrass music, and great fashion senses- Personalities. Thanks!
