Post image for Store Opening: Our 2nd Store In Canada Opens In Calgary Tomorrow!

A few weeks ago we opened our much anticipated Toronto store. It was our very first international store and we could not have been happier with the great reaction it generated.

This Friday we are opening our second store in Calgary, located at Chinook Centre, and it will feature an all new cottage-inspired store design concept. To celebrate, this Friday we are having a grand opening event!   Read more »

Post image for How To Hand Paint Antique Silverware

I love having an eclectic kitchen. When I buy plates, bowls, glasses, and silverware, I usually only buy one of each piece (which is easy enough if you’re getting it all from a thrift store!) – I love being able to mix everything up, with no two pieces the same. Read more »

I have some antique silverware ive been wanted to do this with. I am going to paint then frame it as gifts for my mom and sisters (silver wear was my grandmother and great grandmothers) but I'm nervous the silver will tarnish over time. Anyone know if the protective spray will prevent tarnishing?? Thanks!!!

Post image for Poll: Dresses For Now And Later

Everyone needs a dress they love. Right now we are obsessed with dresses that we can wear now and carry into fall. We love making the most of our sweet dresses by wearing them from the summer months with sandals and then teaming them with tights when the colder days arrive. Read more »

Post image for September Catalog Sneak Peek: Who’s That Girl?

Our September catalog was shot by Guy Aroch, who captures model Martha Hunt on the streets of London in a paparazzi-inspired style. Based around the concept of the modern “it girl” whose every move is documented, Martha dodges the camera as she does everyday things like taking out the trash and going to yoga, working on set and going out at night with her boyfriend, played by model Danny Fox. We love this book and the story it tells, and can’t wait for it to drop on Tuesday along with our new site for Free People UK! Here’s a sneak peek. :) Read more »

What is Free People doing to promote a realistic body image for women? As far as I've seen, not much. HEY, FREE PEOPLE, how about choosing some healthy and curvy models?

Post image for Office Style: A Love For The Plaid Shirt

Maybe it had something to do with our “Rad in Plaid” lookbook from last week, or maybe it just had something to do with fall creeping in. Yesterday plaid was the look of the day. Read more »

half a cup of LOW sodium soy sauce is nothing compared to all the salt/sodium that goes into the other foods you eat/cook everyday...
renee -Aug 31, 2012, 7:01PM
this looks delicous but half a cup of low sodium soy sauce is definitely not healthy

Post image for 7 Things To Do This Labor Day Weekend (Before Summer Is Gone!)

I don’t want to accept it.  Somehow, summer has flown by and we find ourselves facing down fall and all that comes with it.  I don’t have anything against fall, but I am a summer girl through and through, so I’ve decided to make a list of activities that encapsulate the joy of summer and try to accomplish as many as I can during this last weekend of summer bliss. MORE white appropriation. Aboriginal culture trivialized and used as decor. P.S. Why was my last comment deleted instead of addressed? an't stand hearing the uncomfortable truth?

Post image for One Bag Goes To New York

I spent all of last weekend in New York, where I’m from. I’ve been in love with the incredible Collected Treasures Satchel for quite some time and I finally got my hands on it, so of course I brought it with me for the weekend! I wanted to share my weekend with you guys in the form of a Blogger Diary, but my bag had other plans. It asked if it could write its own blog post as a guest blogger. I couldn’t say no, so here’s my weekend through the perspective of one fringe-y little bag! Read more »

Post image for 7 Uplifting Thoughts For Your Day

There are often times I read beautiful words that hit me hard in the heart. It’s like you just need things to be spelled out to you sometimes; like a little guidance of something to help you along. It can be hard to stay true to yourself. You can get caught up in pleasing other people’s worlds.

Day of Women -Sep 01, 2012, 5:34AM
Day of Women loved this positivity on our Saturday morning, setting people up for a good weekend! It is funny that these messages appear so simple, but we still need to be reminded of them. These are thoughts that should be permanently displayed somehow or somewhere in our lives.
Claudia -Aug 29, 2012, 10:26AM
Thanks a lot for this :) I love all the quotes except number 1 :( As "Free People" we do need to think about the future, about our beautiful world and what legacy we want to leave behind us for the next "Free People" coming after us. And if we were to look back to our past and really take time to appreciate and realise all we had and lacked, maybe then our present would not be so worried about our future... Pauline's quote sums it really. I personally like the quote "Everyone's alive but not everyone is living" and I think life is about us as people and not about "you"... nothing will be as beautiful if there were no one else to share it with :) As Snoop Dog would say " It's no fun if the homies can't have none " lol Des bisous xx
