Post image for Jenny Bahn: Story Of Model To Writer

It was 2008 and I was living with my then-boyfriend in Los Angeles, sharing a ‘20s style duplex with hardwood floors and jalousie windows that leaked cold air during California winters. He was—and is—a photographer. We met on the set of a shoot I didn’t want to show up for on account of extreme sleep deprivation and general laziness. I remember the point when he reached over and pushed my chin towards the light in a certain way and I could tell, right then and there, that this was the person for me, at least for a time. No matter the duration, you meet people for reasons, and his was to push me towards another chapter of my life, which was out of a career modeling and into writing. Read more »

This is just what I needed. I too am at that crossroad wondering if I should really leave my mediocre and uninspiring HR job and take a chance on my passion without knowing anyone in that industry. There's something in me that feels like it'll work out but uncertainty is just an unly doubt away. This post was like a warm blanket of reassurance. Thank you for your story.
Leigh -Aug 09, 2014, 8:44AM
So, so inspriring. I’m also moving to NYC with hopes of it opening up oppurtunities before me(just like every other white, middle class gal in America, eh?). It’s funny how life happens and there are catalysts to lead us to our true selves. You just never know unless you try it. Props to you for searching, not settling!

I'm so looking forward to breaking out my leather jackets again! Every fall they curl around my shoulders like an old cat and I've missed them dearly.
Sara -Aug 04, 2014, 11:26AM
I just adore big, chunky, fuzzy coats (and shearling!) especially if it has a pop of color or some crazy, unique detailing. My favorite coat is a faux fur black and white horizontally striped one - definitely always get stopped and asked about it whenever I wear it out! xoxo Sara http://www.restlessnomads.com

Post image for 5 Gorgeous Pet-Safe Houseplants

While keeping them alive may be an entirely different story, I have always had a thing for houseplants. I love the instant breath of life they bring into a space; the touch of nature that makes you feel good to be in its presence. Read more »

I love all of those plants! I am definitely going to have to look into a couple of those :) So far my dogs seem very uninterested in eating plants (other than grass) but I would hate for them to think that it was okay to eat an inside plant and have it be toxic.

Post image for Dare To Defy Convention: Show Your Straps

We’ve been told for so long that allowing our bra straps to show is faux pas, to be avoided at all costs. But why hide something that can be so beautiful?  Read more »

Post image for Monday Quote: What You Feel

“Your worst battle is between what you know and what you feel.”  Read more »

Kristin C -Aug 21, 2014, 6:09PM
I actually think this is misleading. Our feelings can be very inaccurate. Our feelings are not always something we should follow. Sometimes, we must go on what we know. Just because we think or feel or believe something doesn't mean it is true. Girls with anorexia who are extremely underweight. But that doesn't mean she needs to lose weight. A man may feel like he should break up with his girlfriend, but it may be that, deep down, his feelings come from fear of commitment or rejection. A fear of commitment is no reason to end a good relationship, but if that man were to follow his feelings, the relationship would be over.
