a bag for coachella

who’s going to coachella this weekend?! unfortunately we aren’t going this year but that doesn’t mean we can’t get in the mindset… here’s a look at what i would bring if i were heading to coachella…

i drew most of my inspiration from the two outfits pictured above.  the outfit at far right is PERFECT- our little plaid cropped bralettes can be worn on their own, over a tank, or under some cute overalls like the puddle jumper romper! add the romana fest sandal and gorgeous rio brillante bag to complete the look. then the next day, wear it with some bright blue cutoff shorts and the embroidered mesh crop top like sasha pivovarova from our april catalog :)

packing lightly and being able to mix and match is key for music festivals – the sophia bikini top would look great with the overalls or just with the cutoffs as well! i would also bring a scarf to either sit on or cover up my hair, which would surely be a mess after dancing in the hot sun all day and into the night. the feather straw fedora and sunglasses would also be in my bag to keep the california sun out of my eyes. and in addition to the sandals i’d bring along some comfy kicks like the muddy waters sneakers.

when i’m at a festival, sometimes i don’t want to worry about carrying a bag so the artists and revolutionaries fanny pack would be ideal, and would hold my small journal and some sunblock. and i’m loving these candy-colored shades of nail polish by chanel! finally, i’m obsessed with the bag charms by the 2 bandits and the cute saba feather clips (on the straw hat and in sasha’s hair above)! clip ’em to your bag, hat, belt loop or right into your hair! the perfect festival accessory.

those are my picks,  click here to go to our festival shop for more inspiration :)

I played around with her pieces in the studio the other day I feel in love with the unique rings that sit just delicately on the tops of your fingers. The textures of her jewelry make for exquisite accessories perfectly dressed down for a festival and easily adapted for a lovely night out. Sasha wears the rings throughout our April book, they add that extra special to any outfit.

I’m hooked. You can find her pieces here!

namaste

i am completely in love with our latest vintage loves vignette, “namaste!” the selection of indian printed dresses, worn denim and woven bags are right up my alley.  i especially love the length of a lot of the dresses and that they’re shorter for going into spring and summer. perfect summer festival dress, anyone?!?

coincidentally, one of our fp girls came in today wearing a vintage dress just like the ones above! i love how she styled it with a wide belt and boots.

lou just happened to be walking by and we couldn’t resist putting her in the photo :)

in the mix

it’s a miserable day in philly and after thawing my car out of a block of ice i am stealing the energy and warmth of these behind the scenes pictures from our latest special shoot.  the shoot was for the mixed print trend on our website right now – we love how fresh this trend feels going into spring. to get the amazing special shots our team went to the home of our creative director, which they turned into a bohemian lounge full of rich prints and bold colors. looking at these photos (taken by our talented videographer) my breath was taken away…they look like they’re in a caravan on their way to a festival… with puppies of course :)

holiday getaways – lou

lou would be in her element at a ski resort where she can snowboard to her heart’s content, and one of the best places for winter activities is lake tahoe. we love squaw valley – which is also where the wanderlust yoga and music festival takes place. lou could stay at the squaw valley lodge where she can ski right out onto the mountain. when she gets tired, she can relax in the outdoor hot tub and then cozy up by the fire in an armchair with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book… even lou needs to indulge herself every once in a while, and for that there’s a fireside indoor spa!

other activities that lou will love can be found at high camp.  a scenic ride up the mountain in the squaw valley cable car and she can enjoy ice skating, snow tubing and moonlit snowshoe tours, all with panoramic views of lake tahoe and the high sierra.

hardly strictly

hardly strictly bluegrass starts today in san francisco!

with one exception – radiohead’s show at outside lands (first ever nighttime show in golden gate park) – this was the most fun i had when i lived in san francisco. the festival takes place each fall in golden gate park, and consists of three days of live music – FOR FREE. those of you who haven’t been to san fran, october is probably the nicest month out there weather wise and there’s really nothing better than spending a weekend lounging on blankets in spectacular golden gate park with a bunch of friends listening to the plucking of guitar strings. this year’s lineup is sick – including t. bone burnett w/ a special appearance by karen elson, jenny and johnny, steve earle, conor oberst, joan baez, trombone shorty, umphrey’s mcgee, the felice brothers, sharon jones and the dap kings, yonder mountain string band, the avett brothers, railroad earth, elvis costello, patti smith, emmylou harris, and many more.

did i mention its FREE??? check out the website here.

off the record

what’s everyone up to this weekend? i am seeing one of my favorite bands, my morning jacket, at penn’s landing on sunday and i can’t wait!!! i have loved them for years and seeing them at this venue (which is pretty small) should be amazing. i haven’t seen them since bonnaroo ’08, when they released their last album evil urges,  so i’m curious to see what songs they play.

i’m trying to get there early to get good seats so i can take pics!

if i wasn’t doing that, i would probably take a day trip to bethel, new york, for their harvest festival. our vintage buyer told me about it – it takes place on sunday at the site of the original woodstock festival and there’s a farmers market, crafts, live music and more. sounds like so much fun!

more info here.

happy friday!

back to the garden

i have a really wierd obsession with woodstock.  i wasn’t even alive back then but it pains me to think i wasn’t able to be a part of that experience.  our vintage buyer took a trip to bethel, new york,  and brought back some photos of the festival site and her friend’s place – i nearly died when i saw them. one day i will get there.

a bag for wanderlust

TheVillageatSquawValley-exterior

the wanderlust festival is this weekend! three days of music and yoga in the gorgeous squaw valley, california …could it get any better than that? here’s a selection of items that i would bring:

wanderlust

1. hill tribe embroidered bag; 2. spacedye mobius headband; 3. monrow vintage sweatpant; 4. heathered sporty bra; 5. bad turtle tee; 6. open up short sleeve crew neck; 7. we the free layered tee hoodie; 8. short sleeve scoop bodysuit; 9. we the free long sleeve bandana print; 10. desert boot.

a few of our fp girls will be there this weekend so hopefully i’ll have some pics for you next week!

tunesday: grace potter & the nocturnals

i mentioned grace potter & the nocturnals the other week because they were one of the acts performing at the XPN music festival – but today i wanted to dedicate a whole post to them.  i think grace potter is one of those musicians that you need to see live to really appreciate. she can really rock.  i think she’s probably the only female musician around right now who could do justice to jefferson airplane’s “white rabbit.” check it out:
