A Free People Wedding Gift: Quilted Fabric Clutches

Our operations coordinator is also getting married, and had the amazing idea to incorporate some of the beautiful quilted fabric from India that we use for lots of our store displays – by having it used to make one-of-a-kind clutches as gifts for her bridesmaids! She worked with her friend Paige, a local designer behind Christine Shirley, who uses scraps of old fabric or old vintage clothes that may never come back in style to make handbags, clutches and more.  Check out the amazing clutches she made with the quilted fabric!

Such an awesome idea, and a great way to incorporate her love of Free People into her wedding!

bohemian french wedding

one of our facebook fans posted a link to this gorgeous bohemian and french inspired wedding and i wanted to share some of the photos! i’ve never been the type of girl that’s into weddings or has any desire to have one (unless it involves bare feet, the beach and tribal tattoos) but i will say i find weddings to be beautiful and am always inspired by the tiny little details that people incorporate.  for instance, i love the little french touches in this wedding!

the bride, an artist, painted the image for the wedding invites and had them printed as fine art prints, with the details on the back, so that people could keep and frame them if they wanted to.

they set up an antique french dresser with a stack of vintage postcards that people could write notes on and leave in a drawer for the couple.

there was a coffee bar at the reception, and tea boxes were used as centerpieces for the tables.

dried flowers and lavender were used as well for centerpieces, inspired by french country homes.

a free people wedding

one of our fp girls got married on saturday! the wedding took place at her brother and sister in-law’s farm in christiana, pa.  there were no wedding planners- everything was put together by the bride and groom and their friends and family.  the bride looked stunning in a white free people dress (from the cover of our february catalog) and sparrow ankle boots!

half of the guests set up camp and stayed the night under the stars – there was a live bluegrass band, a huge campfire and lots of smores.  a string band from asheville, north carolina, called “chompin at the bit” played the cocktail hour, followed by a surprise appearance by “the family band,” comprised of the bride’s family, who played one of the newlyweds’ most favorite songs- “home” by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros.

sounds perfect :)

a fairytale wedding

these wedding photos are absolutely gorgeous…the beautiful bride, who works in our new york showroom, was kind enough to share them for the blog.  the wedding took place at the hotel dupont in wilmington, delaware, and the outdoor portraits below were taken at the nearby gibraltar gardens.  looks like the epitome of a fairytale wedding to me…that dress is incredible!

**those of you wondering who designed the dress…monique lhuillier!
