Whenever it’s time for the Thursday Poll, it always seems to surprise me that it’s Thursday already – every week! But it is Thursday, and it’s time for our poll!
We decided last week that Orange Ocean is our favorite color of the Boyeee Tee, though it was actually a really even vote!
This week, I am excitedly looking at our hats – soon we won’t have to wear winter ones anymore, but sweet summer hats! I can’t wait! We have some really cute summer hats right now, and I am wondering which styles you prefer…
First, check out our Belize Sun Hat.

Next is our Raffia Cowgirl Hat, shown here in Yellow.

Below, the Head in the Clouds Hat, in Grey.

Next check out our Woven Rainbows Straw Hat.

Finally, see our Stitch Fedora below!

So which hat would you wear? What do you like?

The Woven Rainbows Straw Hat is so cute! Totally fresh!

I am loving Erica Somogyi‘s paintings lately! I saw some of them on My Love for You, and since then I have been on her site looking at everything! I love the colors and the dreaminess!
Coincidentally, Erica’s work has been making the rounds lately, and on this Friday night at 7pm you can see her work at Space 1026 here in Philly! For those interested…

Genetic is our new favorite denim brand! So many people in the home office have them and have made them their everyday jeans. These home office girls pictured are some of the happy customers! (including myself! I got a phone call during the picuture taking.)
What we love is how super comfy they are and the great fit. The wash is really detailed with wear and whiskers, and the holes give them some attitude. But they are still subtle so you can wear them every day.

The blue Shane Cigarette style was such a hit that we started adding some new styles. We have the Billie cuffed shorts, a metallic shiny style, the James in an awesome black stone wash with an ankle zipper, and a few more too! Check out all the Genetics.

Ever heard of The Sketchbook Project? It’s awesome! Something like 2,000 people from around the country signed up, and were sent a blank Moleskine sketchbook. The only instructions were to send the books back by Feb 15th, and fill them with “everyone we know.” Art House, which is a group dedicated to bringing art to the masses, is responsible for the creation and managing of the project. I think that is so cool! I only wish I would have known in time to participate! But maybe next time?
For now, the books that Art House got back are going on tour, and tonight they stop in Philadelphia! Head over to Chris’ Jazz Cafe at 1421 Sansom Street tonight for a chance to flip through all the books. The books will be making the rounds at a bunch of other cities as well; click here to see a list of all the places and dates! Below find just a few pages of the many many books – click here to see a gallery of the submissions!

Thank you all so much for participating in the Lisa Hannigan giveaway!
Your answers about which pages you liked most and your favorite kinds of music were really interesting!
And now for the winners, chosen at random:
Congratulations to Maria!
My goodness. This is a fantastic video.
So many images and favorites!
But I’d have to say my favorite page/part is right about 2:22
Where she’s pulling him into the boat.

Congratulations to Alicia!
I like the romantic aspect of it, like the page when the girl comes and saves him from the water and when they’re on the island holding hands.
Congratulations to Kelsey!
I love old folk music like James Taylor and Joni Mitchell..
Hooray! And thank you again, to everyone, for participating! We will be doing another giveaway very soon- stay tuned!

to kelsey: too bad Joni Mitchell and James Taylor aren't "old" folk music. they certainly fall in to the folk music category. If you'd really like to consider yourself a fan of "old" folk music, i suggest you look up Woody Guthrie.. because he is the closest to old we've got in terms of actual recorded folk music. the old stuff was never recorded, obviously. sorry for coming off snobbish.. but i had to say something. p.s. I do applaud your music taste.. Joni Mitchell is one of my biggest idols.

Welcome to the desk of Alex, one of our designers for We The Free knits and Free People pants!

I really like this composition here, so inspiring!
IMG_6434.JPG
How awesome is that little tool box? Alex found it at a salvage warehouse in northern Philadelphia. The cool string of leather mini-pennants are from a Tokyo vintage store that specializes in classic men’s workwear and collegiate athletic wear. More than likely they traveled from the USA to the store in Tokyo, and then back to the USA again when Alex bought them! A well traveled knick-knack!
IMG_6430.JPG
These wooden postcards are really fun, though they didn’t actually come from Anchorage Alaska! Rather, they are from a bookstore in New York City!
IMG_6406.JPG
I love this deer flask! It’s another Philly find, this time in West Philadelphia.
IMG_6457.JPG
The awesome horse painting is from a whole collection of paint-by-number horse paintings that Alex found in her house!
IMG_6423.JPG
These old children’s encyclopedias, besides looking gorgeous on the outside, have really cool pictures on the inside that the We The Free girls frequently use for inspiration! I think those might be the makings of another post…

As someone who really enjoys watching people, this video just delights me! On a vacation in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, Japan, some people put their camera on the conveyor belt at a local sushi restaurant. I love watching everyone’s reactions as they notice (or don’t notice) the camera rolling by! It’s like a little seven minute vacation…

Thanks for the trip! I liked how everyone seemed so good natured & not crabby. I was very curious about those stacks of plates!?& couldn't figure out the plate system.

haha! I totally agree, I think when the camera went into the kitchen is my favorite part!

Remember this awesome music video by Lisa Hannigan that I posted a while back? The pop-up book is so cool, and the song is really sweet!

Well, I have some fun news! Lisa was so kind as to donate three t-shirts, three packets of adorable buttons, and three copies of her new album, Sea Sew, for me to give away to you! How awesome is that?! The stuff is all very cute too! And who doesn’t want a free new album?

So now is the fun part – the giveaway! For your chance to win a Lisa Hannigan t-shirt, album, and some buttons, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and answer one of the following two questions:
What page in the pop-up book in the music video is your favorite?
or
What type of music is your favorite?
Three comments will be chosen at random, and if your comment is one of those chosen, you win! It’s just that easy! Don’t forget to include your email address with your comment, so that if you win I can contact you! I will announce the winners tomorrow evening! Yay! Good luck!
P.S. In Philadelphia? Don’t miss Lisa’s show at the World Cafe on this coming Thursday night! It’s an event not to be missed! See all her dates on her site!

map-like quilts

I saw these gorgeous map quilts by Leah Evans on Design Crisis, and I am really impressed with them! I love maps, I love quilting, it’s a great combination! They sure look like they’d be difficult to make, though worth it! To see more of Leah’s work, check out her site, and for more interesting quilts, see here, here, and here.
