kenichi hoshine

I’m really taken with these pictures by Kenichi Hoshine! There’s just something about the way the paint looks… when I first saw the tree one I thought there was pretty fabric torn all over it or something. See more at DesignDig.

These are pictures by Hollis Heichemer, NOT Kenichi Hoshine !! Take a look:

The first picture reminded me of fabric on a tree too, which in turn reminded me of an art history paper I did on Arshile Gorky. His painting Garden in Sochi was inspired by memories of his fathers farm. Apparently on the farm there was a wishing tree, and travelers and people passing would tear a strip of their clothing off and tie it to the tree. It might have looked something like that tree in the first picture.

I love all these crafty ideas for printed paper! They really inspire me to go do something with all those old newspapers I have laying around…

Love her or not, these photos by Hedi Slimane look amazing. I love the styling and that first photo is my favorite, with the mix of decadent fabrics.
Check out the rest of the images on Slimane’s fashion diary

ALMOST all of them "Malcom"- but not ALL of them. Cheers, Katherine

The top hat is Boudoir Queen and almost all of the photos in the slimane diaries are of her wearing Boudoir Queen

awesome picture idea

I love that all the lights in these pictures are hearts! Color Me Katie did it by cutting out a little heart on a piece of paper and putting it over her camera lens. I would never have thought that the outcome would be lights turned to hearts! It would be cool to try with other shapes…

es siempre dificil si eticamente es bueno o no, pero gran informacion.

Hi Cadah! There is lots of cool stuff near the Best Western- a lot of my friends stay there when they come into town. There is a Whole Foods on Callowhill between 20th and 21 st if you want snacks or a quick breakfast or lunch. If you like beer the Belgian Cafe on 21 st and Green has an amazing selection and a good brunch/dinner menu. If you walk a few blocks north on 22nd, Fairmount Ave has the historic/spooky Eastern State Penitentiary and some restaurants and little shops. You are also super close to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Franklin Institute, the Rodin Museum and the Academy of Natural Sciences. The Mutter Museum is also about 15 minute walk away-North on 22nd St between Market and Chestnut. Hope this helps and that you have fun! xoxo heather

We'll be there March 23-26. We just booked a room at Best Western Center City Hotel to save some money. It's located at 501 N 22nd Street. From what I can tell on a map it's pretty close to some good museums and a trolley line that can take us downtown. Thank you so much for your help! We really want to get to know Philly as much as possible without the cheesy tourist stuff.

layers & layers

I’m really into these uber-layered looks from Missoni‘s Fall 2009 collection. I just love the skinny pants with tons and tons of knits on top. What do you guys think? Would you wear piles of clothes?

I always love the tones and textures of their fabric. Talk about always staying relevant. Love it!

Take a closer look at this picture…
They’re crayons!

How creative is that!? This crayon-pixel art is the work of Ohio-based Christian Faur. You can see lots more of his crayon art, as well as his work in other mediums, here.

Happy Thursday everyone!
Last week we voted on our favorite tube top from a few that are currently for sale, with the Sunburst Tie Dye Top becoming the clear winner with 183 votes!
This week I am feeling pretty obsessed with our new Boyeee Tee. I have seen a ton of people around the office wearing it, and they look so cute and comfy! I really like burnout tees, and it seems to go with everything. I love all the colors so much, I can’t pick a favorite! Can you?
Below is the tee in Orange Ocean.

Next is the tee in Grey!

Finally, here’s the tee in White Trees.
What do you guys think? Which color is your favorite?

emily -Feb 27, 2009, 10:01AM
MUST get the orange one!! i think the colors you chose will look good on a lot of different skin tones for that one.
Faith -Feb 27, 2009, 12:10AM
Grey is always my favourite...

wool and the gang

First of all, how amazing is that name?!
Wool and the Gang is a group of knitters selling Crazy Sexy Wool from Peru and making clothing and accessories. They were just in New York during fashion week for an opening on Bond Street that attracted attention from lots of the celebrities in town for the shows like Erin Wasson, Mary Kate, and Peaches Geldof (You can see the party photos on their blog.)
There is much exploring to be done on their website for knitting projects, accessories, wool, and inspiration!

Chloe Cumbow -Feb 27, 2009, 10:54AM
wow! thanks for sharing this. Love, Chloe C.

Check out this work by 10 year old graffiti artist Solveig. I love it!

That fresh tat is also by Solveig! Some guy had seen a lot of her work around and really liked it, so he requested a tattoo! I’m so impressed! There’s a little picture article about her on Telegraph UK, and it has a little bit more information about her in the blurbs. I couldn’t figure out where she’s from, though I’m sure it’s in there somewhere. Whatever, she’s awesome! Make sure to have a look at Solveig’s Flickr too, she has a ton of terrific pictures!

heyy just check out a bunch of her pictures and i read in there that shes from Brighton-- just if anyone was wondering :)
Francesca -Feb 26, 2009, 8:21AM

I’m excited for this film Tokyo! based on the questions, “Do we shape cities, or do cities shape us?”
It helps that Michel Gondry is involved (director of Science of Sleep and Eternal Sunshine) and that the trailer looks so intriguing!

fpgirl -Feb 26, 2009, 12:38PM
oh no! you've ruined my excitement. has anyone else seen it already??
Shay -Feb 26, 2009, 1:21AM
I saw it at a film fest, and it was a big disappointment. Gondry's portion is mediocre...
