Style File:Designer

This lovely lady with romantic style is a designer here at Free People. Beautiful wrap dresses and flowing chiffon paired with her head of fiery red curls give off an almost Victorian feeling. She puts an updated twist on the classically beautiful elements with leather leggings, boho wedges, and playful nail art. A master of prints, you’ll often catch this designer in a statement pattern that is to die.

It’s come to that season where gift giving is on everyone’s mind and we always need a helping hand in knowing what special items are out there. We went around our home office and asked our seniors what items they are all about this Fall.

Here they tell us what item they love from out Fall collection

Stuffed Acorn Squash with Pistachio and Dried Cranberry

Yet another thing to love about fall is the plethora of squash varieties you can discover at farmer’s markets and the grocery store. It’s a great time of year to dream up dishes, and experiment around. The following recipe is one of my favorite results from doing so thus far this season.

Ingredients:

1 Acorn Squash

1 Pint of Non-Fat Cottage Cheese

¼ Cup Dried Cranberries

¼ Cup Pistachios – shelled and chopped

1 Tbsp Honey

½ Tsp Cinnamon

½ Tsp Allspice

2 Tbsp Macadamia Nut Oil

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400F. Cut your acorn squash in half

Scoop out insides with a spoon

Brush squash with macadamia nut oil

Cover a baking sheet with tinfoil

Picture 020

Place acorn squash face down onto baking sheet, and place into the oven to cook until soft (approx 30 min).

When your squash is almost cooked, throw cottage cheese, honey, cinnamon, allspice, and pistachios into a blender.

Stir in cranberries, and then spoon filling into squash. Garnish with cinnamon.

Office Style

Western-inspired looks were everywhere around the office this week. Sprinkled throughout, I picked up on notes of fringe, brass, and hide.  People were tying handkerchiefs around their necks and throwing on boots like the old cattle ranchers. Others interpreted a more feminine side, piling their heads high with braids and showing off lace-up stockings.

my jaw is on the floor – gold-tipped snakeskin cowboy boots…

Trend inspiration: Mod

Stepping into my mod world…

When free people launched this trend I became all nostalgic, being British I studied this movement through my fashion and design course and feel honored that one of the significant designers of this time is from my homeland Wales. When I think of MOD I think of Mary Quant amongst other things. She was a Welsh fashion designer and British icon, who was instrumental in the mod fashion movement; she was one of the designers who took credit for inventing the miniskirt and hot pants and showed a generation how to dress to please themselves, she created the ‘London Look’ that was so apparent during this time.

What mod means to me?

To me mod means ‘swinging London’ a time when fashion and style was everything, a time when mods and rockers became huge rebels and pop culture influenced fashion in a big way, psychedelic rock and bob haircuts… now I wish I was right in the thick of things in carnaby street London, 1960’s

Here’s my inspiration and a great editorial I found in self service magazine starring Arizona Muse and Daphne Groeneveld

items: russian print mini skirt, Mohair plaid mini skirt, polka dot blouse, rhiannon two tone platform

Thursday Poll: Hung Up on Prints Collection

One day while I was walking back from getting lunch, an adorable little clothesline caught my eye. A collection of printed bras hung all in a row, fastened by wooden clothespins and swaying in the wind. A bit later the scene was up on our site as the gateway for our “Hung Up on Prints” collection of printed bras. The assortment is out of this world. I almost want to buy one of each and recreate the scene in my bedroom.

Which would you pick for your clothesline?
