free people out west

when our team returned from shooting our december catalog with photos of the incredible western landscape, memories of my own road trip out west came flooding back.  utah, colorado, arizona and new mexico are home to some of the most beautiful land i’ve ever seen – national parks, forests, monuments, campgrounds, rivers, mountains and more.   i put together a little map of the four corners region and some of the amazing places you’ll find there.

this trip would be meadow’s holiday getaway of choice- taking off on a road trip with friends to explore the western landscape. camping at zion, swimming in lake powell and picking up turquoise jewelry and dream catchers at old road stops along the way.

rock while you shop

if you’re in the D.C. area tomorrow afternoon, stop by our store at clarendon commons! singer/songwriter danni rosner will be at the store playing some tunes off both her albums, piano actress and on my way. that’s her in the above right photo, which i posted on the blog a little while back, rocking fp while shooting a video!

check out her website here.

fp holiday gift guide: ginger

ginger’s favorite part of the holiday season are the parties! whether they’re family parties with her loved ones, work parties or wild parties in the city she loves getting dressed up in her holiday finest and dancing till her feet hurt.  christmas is an excuse for her to wear gold and silver sparkles, bright reds and pops of pink to her heart’s content!

spice up ginger’s christmas by giving her a shiny chainmail bag from our vintage loves collection or some dazzling earrings.  our snake armbands will bring out her coy side and she’d flip over our leopard mini taco coin pouch filled with a necklace or ring and some gold nail polish.  ginger’s already counting down the days till bikini season so get her started with the sophia top, which she can layer with other items if she can’t wait till summer to wear it. she’d love our body con easy rider dress or flirty little numbers like the one shoulder lace trim tunic.  finally, the perfect accessories for ginger are some sheer socks to wear with her little black dress to a holiday party, a feather fedora and aviators!

in case you missed them, check out our gift guides for lou, candy and meadow as well.

december styling

A couple of months ago when our team was picking out items and thinking about outfits for our December catalog, some of our home office girls put on the outfits and modeled them – and fortunately our videographer was there to capture the fun on film :) this video is too cute and funny!

we just got in this little velvet romper the other day and it’s the cutest! jemma and i decided to each style an outfit using it – hers is a dressier, going out look that i could totally see her rocking on new years eve – or any night for that matter! my look is a more casual way of wearing it… this was actually a challenge for me, as this isn’t the sort of thing i would normally wear, but once i put on the denim shirt and socks i could definitely imagine wearing this when i’m just hanging around the house. it’s so comfortable and sexy at the same time!

on jemma: velvet romper; doma studded leather jacket; croft felt hat; luna pump.

on julia: velvet romper; levi’s sawtooth denim top; zigzag reversible beanie; santa fe leather cuff; romi sheer rib tall socklink lace up camp boot.

i’m crazy about our collection of old west-inspired accessories.  the colors are so beautiful… i don’t know what it is about turquoise and coral but it always draws me in.  i love the idea of layering a whole bunch of these necklaces and bracelets. which is your favorite?

more stockings!

a couple of readers saw my stocking DIY a couple of weeks ago and sent in photos of stockings that they created based on the tutorial! i had to share cause they’re really cute :)

left: jeannie’s “charm stocking” with feathers and pieces of her own handmade jewelry.

right: a shorter version, from courtney – love them ladies thanks for sending in photos!

Brighten up your bottoms

I’m the type of person who usually stays in the safe zone when it comes to bottoms, jumping back

and forth with denim, black skirts and skinny trousers.

However, I’m getting a little excited about the evolving printed bottoms trend that is emerging –

Adding a little pretty, pretty to the below the waist is quite appealing. Tone it down by making your top half boy;

Plaid shirts, denim vests and waistcoats. Finish it off by adding a touch of frontier-esque – Throw on a rider

hat and away you go!
