our stylists’ picks for fall

our stylists have amazing taste (obviously!) so today i asked them to give their top picks for this fall – and they even modeled them for me! first up, our senior stylist:

“i feel really good about wide leg pants and looser styles going into fall. i’d describe it as victorian mixed with 70s on safari! the coat has a victorian silhouette that looks amazing on any body type because it creates a waist. you can wear it so many different ways, too- belted, open like a cardigan, over a maxi, or with wide leg pants.  and the colors go with everything! i also love the expedition hat and large bags like this that fit everything you would need in case you do actually go on a safari :)”

items pictured above: 1. wide leg easy pant; 2. leather hip belt; 3. ruffled tweed jacket; 4. leather expedition hat; 5. bag coming soon.

and now our assistant stylist:

anna

“i love the long sleeve lace buttondown tunic- it is so versatile! it’s a great piece for layering so you can keep wearing summery items like a printed mini into fall, and the print shows through the lace which is really cute.  just add a cozy cardigan, over-the-knee boots with socks, and a beanie! this leather jacket is AMAZING. it is lined in satin and has a detachable hoodie and has that perfect beaten up quality to it.”

items pictured above: 1. long sleeve lace buttondown tunic; 2. cable beanie; 3. whiplash mini; 4. aralia tall heeled boot; 5. doma hooded biker jacket; 6. far away cable cardigan.

Office Style

My sister has moved  from England to join me here at Free People and I thought I would do a little office style on her. It’s great when you have a sister who is the same size as you and has a similar style to you too. We can borrow and swap clothes until our hearts are content.

It’s great having her here and its lovely having someone who shares the same visual eye as mine.

purple

when i was in the photo studio last week for our latest how-to style session, i kept finding myself admiring our associate stylist’s hair! she died her ends purple and i think it looks awesome – as a fellow brunette who loves the whole colored hair trend, i’ve often wondered what colors would look good with brown hair and i think purple definitely does! it’s subtle but still catches the eye.

back to the garden

i have a really wierd obsession with woodstock.  i wasn’t even alive back then but it pains me to think i wasn’t able to be a part of that experience.  our vintage buyer took a trip to bethel, new york,  and brought back some photos of the festival site and her friend’s place – i nearly died when i saw them. one day i will get there.

fall store displays!

like it or not, fall is just around the corner… which of course means new store displays! here are some shots of the new displays at our king of prussia, PA store. the rich colors and the added texture of the yarn is perfect for fall, bringing to mind a cozy knit sweater you just want to wrap yourself up in.

i love how the fabric seems to be dripping from the ceiling, like the store is oozing creativity.

you may recognize the fabric covered vases that have been pictured around our home office and at our costa mesa store.

i think my favorite part of the display is the yarn.  it is also used as decoration here at the home office – i love it, the colors make me happy :)
