Post image for Our Fall Beauty Resolutions

The shift is subtle, until we’re suddenly acutely aware: Crumpled leaves litter the ground, school buses begin their early morning rumble, and apples, squash, and dark leafy greens start their farmer’s market takeover. Read more »

I am digging that water bottle! Can you please tell us who makes it?

I love wearing a top bun. I don't know if I can pull of the make up colors but doesn't hurt to try. I can always wash it off. http://sanesamysays.blogspot.com/

Post image for How to Pack The Perfect Carry On Bag

I’ve been traveling since before my memory even serves. Road trips and flights were a regular thing in my family, and for a while, a bag sat at the foot of my bed, always half-packed or half-unpacked, depending on how you looked at it. Read more »

Great ideas mentioned here! For me, lip balm is a must. And I always bring my toothbrush and a zip lock baggie with an old face cloth inside so I can freshen up during long hauls. I really liked the idea of a face spritzer, too! (Would TSA let you bring that on though?)
Eva -Aug 30, 2014, 3:38AM
Great tip! I always bring all of this stuff as well. Seconding what people said in the comments about lip moisturizer. I usually pack one that's in a tin so I can also use it for my hands if I need to. A little spray bottle with water (and maybe conditioner/coconut oil) is helpful to spray your face if you're feeling extra dry. http://magellanandpan.com

Stunning home, and beautiful interview. It was great to read about a south shore gal - I went to Bridgewater State and I too adore the MA shorelines & the Cape of course! The light blue trim on the house reminds me of the Cape :) After checking out her husband's furniture it's so obvious they are a match made in heaven - loved his stuff- very turn of the century. Love love love Warm Regards, Alexandra www.littlewildheart.com

Post image for The Benefits Of Eating Fossils

It’s true: I eat fossils every day.

I know you’re thinking, “Brigette. Girl. What are you talking about.” Allow me to introduce you to a little gold mine known as diatomaceous earth. Read more »

Beka -Sep 03, 2014, 9:24AM
This stuff can seriously harm your digestive tract. DIATOMACEOUS EARTH IS A PESTICIDE! It works by cutting apart little insects like fleas. CUTTING THEM APART! This stuff can really hurt you & there are reports of people suffering from intestinal bleeding (as in pooping out blood slime) because they ate this pesticide. Did I also mention this pesticide is made of silica? You know, that ingredient you try so hard to avoid at the beauty counter? PLEASE DO NOT EAT THIS!
Fauna -Sep 01, 2014, 10:03PM
BEWARE. I work in the supplements department at my local food co-op and we have recently chosen not to carry the food-grade DE. It has received a lot of attention as an internal cleanser due to Zoe Kravitz using it to lose weight for an upcoming role where she plays a girl with an eating disorder. Previously it had appeared as an ingredient in a popular brand of internal cleanses. However the product was discontinued because *FAINT OF HEART READ NO FURTHER* reports of people passing large strings of blood filled mucus. There are many other safe, researched alternatives. Please be careful.

Post image for How To Feel Better When You’re Alone

The feeling of being alone is one that we have all experienced. Read more »

I love this post. I'm going to bookmark it. Being an introvert and a creative, I need my alone time, but I find if I'm alone too much, I start to get kind of weird! I love all your suggestions, I would also say call someone! Even if you don't have your friends close to you, call one far away. Human contact is essential. https://www.etsy.com/shop/EarthChildArt?ref=hdr_shop_menu

I recently graduated from college and all my friends left me! I haven't been feeling too lonely, but I'll get random spurts of sadness that make me worry about myself and my health... I look up to you, Bridgette, Julie and Julia, so hearing that you, too, feel lonely sometimes helps me realize that it's perfectly normal! Thank you for this! <3

Post image for Bananas + Oats: Meet The Easiest Cookies You’ll Ever Make

Maria - I'm so glad you enjoyed the recipe and that everyone liked the outcome! These are so versatile, you can really throw whatever you have lying around in them and they'll always be good. I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind for future posts, I always love an easy recipe :)
Maria -Sep 07, 2014, 7:47PM
Thank you SO MUCH for this recipe. I work in a shelter for migrants and all of the food we get is donated, so we don't have the more expensive or exotic ingredients that are often listed in recipes on this site. Moreover, the cooking we have here is often really greasy and unhealthy, because that's what a tight budget can afford! Thanks for providing something delicious AND cheap -- I made them for the house and everyone loved them! Please post more recipes like this!

Did not know about sea salt as an air freshener. I use lemons and limes a lot in cooking and drink making. Cheap and easy way to make air fresheners considering I already buy all of this stuff and have it on hand. http://blog.freepeople.com/2014/08/bananas-oats-meet-easiest-cookies/#comment-595626
