Our model Martha brought her adorable pup Bear in to the office today and Abigail was so excited to have a new friend to play with! How cute?!?
Bear is a Peagle! :)
I like how Jemma wore her cardigan backwards today :) Read More
Our catalog team traveled around the world…
…and us bloggers got to go to our shoot with Sasha Pivovarova in NYC – definitely a highlight of the year!
We worked with so many beautiful models…
We debuted FP Spun and Vegan Leather, and launched a special line of Limited Edition Dresses! We celebrated with pop-up shops in NY and LA, where Jade Castrinos performed at our store.
We fell hard for extreme flares, monochromatic dressing, birkenstocks, turbans, sweater dressing, fancy collars, western boots, friendship bracelets and bright nails, flatforms, mixed prints, color pops, polka dots and more…
We were influenced by decades past…
…and by trends like mod and grunge.
We brought you festival coverage from Pitchfork and Outside Lands…
We shot our July catalog with Alexandra Valenti and the Happen-Ins, and we had such a great time we went back and threw a party to celebrate the catalog release! We also threw a party at our 5th ave store for Fashion’s Night Out and had a blast.
We made so many lovely blogger friends!
Many crafts were made, and we held our first crafting events in Cambridge and NYC!
And, some new furry faces popped up in the office :)
2011 was a good year :) Here’s to making the next one even better!
Happy New Year!
We had an adorable visitor in the office yesterday! This is Sweet Pea and she definitely lives up to her name :)
We gave her a Free People-style bow to wear for the day, ain’t she purdy?

We’re sending him off with a book of inspirational quotes :)
And in his honor, here’s a highlight from his time here at FP – who remembers Dog Talk?!?
We love the magic thermal kaftan!
“let sleeping dogs lie”
As you may have seen by now, we had a very special cameo by one of our beloved home office pups in the September catalog – Toby! I caught up with Toby the other day to ask him about his experience shooting his first Free People catalog :)
Were you nervous about being a part of our September catalog shoot? I was a little nervous, but once we started shooting, I relaxed.
What did you do to prepare for the shoot? Well, I’m a natural so I didn’t do much. I had a bath and made sure my paws were extra clean.
What did you think of Bambi, the model you posed with? She was great! I think we complimented each other well. At first, she was a bit scared of me, but after she realized I was a gentle giant, she had fun.
What was your favorite part of the shoot? Being showered with cookies and attention from all the ladies :)
Do you get stopped on the street now that you’re a famous catalog model? Not so much…
Will you be doing any more modeling in the future? I hope to. I am available :)
Do you have a favorite item from the September catalog? I love the Americana Sweater Jumper.
What’s your favorite thing about Fall? Boots and the cooler weather!
Toby wasn’t the only pup on set at the September shoot! He had a bud to hang out with – Ace!
Ace lives on the farm in New Tripoli where our catalog was shot. He lost his leg when he was hit by a car but he is doing just fine now! He had a blast during the shoot and LOVED all the attention from the ladies :) He is one happy dog!
Our beautiful web merchandiser is getting married, and we had a little surprise bridal shower for her this morning :) She was so surprised, it was really sweet – and so were all the yummy treats!
Ruby and Mr. Pig were also in attendance :)
This dog cracks me up! She belongs to our creative design assistant and she is probably the tiniest dog I’ve ever seen – pictures really don’t do it justice. She’s a cutie and she loves to breakdance! Check it out :)
No, there is not something wrong with my camera…that is pink string hanging in our lobby as part of a little installation we are doing! I love the concept:
DO WHAT YOU LOVE, LOVE WHAT YOU DO
Each employee will attach an item to one of the strings that represents what they love most about their job or what motivates them most about their job. We’ve just started attaching our objects, it’s so fun to see what people choose!
The object I hung was thank you card from one of our blog readers – every once in a while I get a card or package in the mail and it always makes my day to hear that something I wrote on the blog inspired you or made you feel good. So thank you guys!
And now I have to introduce you to this little cutie pie, Carter – he belongs to a fp girl’s roommate and I’m smitten with him! I love how puppies tire themselves out and crash, they’re so cute when they’re sleepy :)
