Our featured artist this month is certainly appropriate for the time of year – Erickson Beamon creates a universe “where glittering snowflakes freeze into delicate drop earrings, black roses bloom on bangles, a brave new world is being charted out with yards of pearls and the duchess of fabulous rules the roost”
Their work is the epitome of statement jewelry – they create pieces that not only compliment an outfit, they become an important part of it. The rings we are featuring by Erickson Beamon scream holiday party – they truly do look like crystals of ice that will add the perfect dazzle to your holiday outfit.
I love Erickson Beamon’s artistic approach to jewelry design – for their spring/summer 2012 presentation at fashion week they created a lush garden scene called “Back to Eden,” that housed four incredible mannequins covered in their baubles and designs. They’re incredible!

This month’s featured jewelry designer is one of my personal favorites – Dannijo. The New York based label was founded by sisters Danielle and Jodie Snyder, self-taught jewelry designers who learned how to wirework by playing with their father’s medical tools as kids. Their pieces are handmade using various metals – oxidized silver, gold and gunmetal – mixed with bold colorful elements like druzy quartz, crystals, aqua aura and pearls.
A combination of bohemian whimsy and old-world sophistication, their pieces are incredibly beautiful and eye-catching, making them a favorite among celebrities and fashion designers.
“For SS12 we were really inspired by Indonesian surf culture, western elements and Aztec artifacts — think masks, fossils and ancient jewelry dug up from the past. We wanted the collection to be really wearable and able to be stacked and layered as always so we had fun with color and silhouettes while keeping the collection very signature Dannijo. It’s sort of a modern take on remnants of the past.”
And the rings? The rings are out of this world!

Our featured jewelry designer this month is Carol Marie, a line launched by designers Jennifer Carol Kramer and Heather Marie White based on their love for statement pieces and belief that a certain piece of jewelry can transform your look. Their pieces are strong enough to be worn on their own, but designed to be layered together. Their Ethiopian Double Cross Necklace is featured throughout our August catalog, along with the gorgeous Sapphire Tiered Jewel Necklace, Hinged Studded Cuff, Studded Enamel Bangle and Large Amulet Pendant.
on the left – a more layered look; on the right – stunning simplicity.
Even amidst the beautiful Venetian scenery and clothing, these pieces stand out and certainly do make a statement. Antique metals, romantic details, glowing jewels and architectural elements make them the perfect pieces to be featured in this book as they reflect the characteristics of the city of Venice itself.
