The streets of LA smell like jasmine, it’s true! Every morning when we left The Chamberlain, our senses were woken by sweet flowering scents making us drift happily through the West Hollywood hills. The LA voyage was a research trip where our buyers seek vintage finds for inspiration for future trends. And I… I was there to photograph our lovely Beach Designer at her Echo Park cottage and to hunt down street style at the famous Rosebowl Flea Market.
There’s more to LA than meets the eye, it’s vintage fashion scene and holistic way of living is booming. I’m excited to head there this weekend to explore the City of Angles down to it’s very core. I’m heading there with our buyers for a research trip and to create features that will be coming to our blog in the next couple of months. Read More
This week’s shop-able street is another from LA, a casual and cool outfit that’s fun. We love how easy and relaxed this look is, but yet it’s different enough to stand out.
Swimwear has become ever-so-popular over the last couple of years and styles are more advanced in terms of fashionable ideas — making many girls want to wear them in creative ways. Read More

We love LA… beaches, surfing, sunshine, rollerskating, tacos, convertibles, palm trees, Mel’s diner, the LACMA, Hollywood and more. We love NYC… cab rides, late nights, hot dogs, the subway, the MET, Times Square, the list goes on. Two iconic cities on opposite coasts that couldn’t be more different, but we love them just the same. Our January catalog is an homage to these two great cities and their individual style, featuring Jessica Hart shot by Chrissy Piper in Los Angeles and Karlie Kloss shot by Guy Aroch in New York City.
So, of course, we have to ask…
Are you a New York City girl or an L.A. woman?
“I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering…”
Sometimes I feel like the thoughts in my head fly around at a frenzied pace and the only way to sort them out is to get away for a bit. Even if it’s not far away, just to get out of the city, and surround myself with new sights, smells and sounds can do the trick. This weekend I did actually travel though – I went to California for a quick vacation with my sister to catch up with some family and old friends.
California is one of my favorite places in the world – and while I prefer San Francisco, I do love LA. We stayed at the Standard Hotel in Hollywood – located on Sunset Blvd, it has a really cool modern vibe and great location. We spent our days doing some vintage shopping on Melrose (where I found a pair of perfectly beat-up boots in just my size for a mere $20!), hanging out in Santa Monica – where we even went to the pier for the first time in years, and just lounging by the pool at the hotel, relaxing before a night out.
It was just what I needed before flying back to a cold, snowy (!) Northeast on Saturday.

I loved this store Slow – especially its little off-shoot full of vintage treasures called As Is.
Another great store – Wasteland – where I got my boots.
