At 5 Beekman Street in Manhattan, there is a large but unassuming building that is completely empty and abandoned, with much of the interior shuttered since 1940. Few are allowed inside, depriving the general public of the ability to witness its surprisingly stunning interior – and it won’t be this way for long, as it was recently purchased by hotelier André Balasz. The derelict interior provided an intriguing backdrop for our shoot, contrasting perfectly with the soft, girly pastels of our lookbook. Read More
Lemon… a ray of sunshine, a light at the end of winter’s tunnel, daffodils and daisies poking their heads out of the ground and the fresh scent of citrus flower… a color associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.
Our February lookbook is so full of light and soft colors, it’s hard to believe it was shot on a chilly day in New York City in an abandoned building… our team shot at 5 Beekman St (more on this location to come) with photographer Anna Palma, who you may remember from this amazing video. Here’s a peek behind the scenes!
Last week we told you about the pastel trend we love for spring, and today we released our February lookbook, a pastel story. This week we’ll take a closer look at some of the pretty hues we love for spring, starting with rose… the color of delicate petals, sun-kissed cheeks and grapefruit, symbolic of gentleness, grace and sweetness.
Spring is coming, I can feel it… you start to notice a little change in the air, it carries with it a scent of the warmth that is on its way, flowers poke their heads out of the ground to see if its safe to bloom yet, and the sun fights to stay out a little bit longer. Read More
This January, we traveled to Palm Springs, CA to shoot our lookbook with Alexandra Spencer of 4th and Bleeker. In the book, she takes on the look of a domesticated 70’s wild child as she hangs by the pool and goes about her day in a 70’s ranch style home. The looks are filled with stacked sandals, flowing bohemian prints and ditzy patterns elevated with hard-edged suede, sequins, and funky shades. There’s no doubt this woman is beautifully Free People. Which look is your favorite?
Grunge has been on our minds. It’s the cool revival of the 90’s with an “I don’t give an F” attitude. Washed and distressed pieces – leather and studs. We’re channeling Alice Dellal and Kurt Cobain as we layer it on.
Last week we invited some blogger friends down to help us interpret the look. We piled all of our latest cutoff shorts, leather jackets, grunge tees, boots, and washed pieces into a display – letting them go at it: styling and telling us which items they liked best.
We’ve been gearing up for holidays for quite some time now, and the release of our November lookbook (staring models Linda Vojtova and Ruby Aldridge) confirms that the festive season is finally upon us. It’s a magical time of year that inspires a uniform of glitter and glitz. Everywhere you look ladies have out their best eye-twinkling sequins. Parties are lined with shining gems in head-to-toe metallics – catching the light and bouncing back an elegant glimmer. The world, for two months or so, becomes spectacularly hypnotizing exactly like this book. Which look whisks you off into the twinkling dreamland?
What is everybody doing this weekend? It’s First Friday in Philly, it’s Fall – meaning fun stuff like apple picking and pumpkin carving – and Monday is a holiday (for some)!
We just launched this shoe lookbook on our website and I can’t stop looking at it. I love all the little scenarios they created, depicting pretty much everything I want to be doing this weekend – zipping around the city on a scooter or bike, chilling in the park with a book and a puppy, picking up groceries for a dinner party, hitting up a concert, or having brunch with a best friend or loved one.
Where will your feet take you this weekend??
