July Mood Board: Unplug, Disconnect, Detox

After a 24 hour digital detox, we learned that in order to connect, to really invest in people and ourselves, we had to disconnect from the technology we have so readily at our fingertips. This is a mood board to keep us inspired.

American Woman: A Mood Board For Our Latest Trend

I always love the trends that our merchandisers come up with, but every once in a while a trend comes along that hits a special note with me and this week’s “American Woman” is one of them. First of all, there is a definite 70s vibe that instantly appeals to me, and when combined with retro sporty graphics and Americana elements, this is a look I wholeheartedly support. It brings to mind Venice Beach and that cool laid-back LA attitude, the Z-Boys and surf culture. Read More

Piece Together An Outfit With A Mood Board

November Moodboard & Fairytale Playlist

My moodboard for November is heavily inspired by our catalog concept of fairytales. I’m drawn towards fantastical imagery; light that hits in a way that doesn’t look real, enchanted forests, antique elements like torn wallpaper, vintage couches and worn ballet flats, girls with their minds in the clouds and a dreamlike quality enveloping it all. It’s as if someone has placed a layer of hazy, fairy-dusted glass over my eyes.  Read More

October Mood Board & Playlist

Each month I like to gather a collection of images that I love and put them up around my desk space or on a wall at my apartment.  It’s always interesting to see the colors and imagery that my mind seeks at certain times of year, and I’ve decided that next year I want to take a snapshot of each collage and save them so that I can compile them at the end of the year. This month I am definitely gravitating towards black and white photography and a darker mood. Witchy women, deep gazes, earthy tones, and an overall moody feeling.  Here’s my October mood board and a playlist of music I can’t get enough of right now! Read More

march moodboards

our creative team sent me some outtakes from the march catalog that they didn’t end up using, so i decided to have a little fun with them and create some mood boards – each centered around a theme: castaway, in the city, and swim.

castaway

she treads barefoot through the sand, her skin tickled by the salt and sand.  she dances along, dipping her toes in the ocean and stopping to pick up sea shells that shine like pearls. she drapes herself in sheer fabrics that don’t add any weight, so she can take off in whatever direction the breeze blows her.

(items pictured: summer layers skirt, fp-1 rainforest maxi dress, starlight lovers dress, fp-1 tie dye sunburst maxi, open stitch beach tunic)

the city

evening sets in and the temperature in the air cools as she steps out for a night on the town. dressed in bold colors and patterns, crimped hair and red lips, skin glowing from the day’s sun and eyes alive with excitement,  she dances down narrow streets into the magical night.

(items pictured: fp-1 tie dye sunburst maxi, rugby stripe column, sheer yoke floral skort, seneca rising live twice short, pleated florals top, buttoned up in pleats skirt, crosswords maxi tube dress, daughters of the revolution striped tunic, lady in leopard dress)

swim

swim

she takes a breath and dives deep, the cool water shocking her skin after the sun’s intense heat.  she savors every second of the feeling of freedom one gets when they hit the water.  all other sounds are drowned out, it’s just her and her thoughts as she moves languidly under the surface.

(items pictured: fp-1 wavebreak smocked tube dress, crochet bikini, summer layers skirt, lace cropped kaftan)
