Exile in Austin: July Catalog Release Party!

i am so excited to tell you guys about something special we’re doing to celebrate our july catalog! you may remember that i was down in austin a couple of months ago, where we shot the book with local band the happen-ins. well we had such a blast that we decided to go back and throw a party to celebrate the catalog release! And what better way to do it than with some live music from the happen-ins?!  if you aren’t familiar with these guys yet, you will be soon… their music – a blend of r&b, americana and classic rock – is intoxicating. not to mention, we love their style :) check them out on facebook here.

the event will take place friday june 17th at 5-8PM

at austin’s mohawk room– where we shot part of our july book!

located at 912 red river st– a strip of austin’s hottest live music venues.

come hang out with us while enjoying live music from the happen-ins, a special viewing of our catalog video before anyone has seen it, and enter your name in a raffle for a chance to win a $500 or $50 gift card to FP!

we’ll also hand out fliers for a 15% off discount that you can use at our austin store locations – downtown and at the domain.

***this is an all ages event!***

i’m so excited to go back to austin! i hope to see lots of you there!

i’ve got lots of great diy inspiration for you all today so lets get right to it!

one of our readers made this bike lock inspired by our dog leash DIY! i love the fabrics she used…this is a great way to jazz up your bike lock, just wrap different scraps of fabric around it!

another reader, autumn, sent this awesome project she made for her environmental perspectives class, in which they were required to create an interior or apparel item made entirely out of recycled materials.

she made an up-cycled outdoor chandelier using an old wire basket, recycled glass jars, various necklaces and chains found in her dresser, a coat hanger to hang it up and a little bit (or a lot) of creativity! she spray painted the wire basket to match the necklaces and coat hanger, used some wire to hang the jars from the necklaces, filled the jars with collected sand and seashells then topped it off with a votive candle…..perfect for an outdoor summer garden party!

speaking of outdoor parties, i can’t get over these string chandeliers from the blog wednesday!

the seem like they would be so much fun to make:

check out the tutorial here.

and here’s a similar project from shannon south that uses lace doilies! beautiful.

hmmm…which project to try first…

party time!

our creative director’s birthday was yesterday but we celebrated today with a special party for one very special lady!

the amazing card our graphic design team made- the dog is modeled after her sweet frenchie georgia :)

chewbaccas everywhere! i never knew this, but apparently the character chewbacca was inspired by george lucas’s own dog and his characteristic loyalty, which is why she loves him so much. so sweet :)

love this bright shirt/necklace combo!

awesome gifts – a chewbacca pez dispenser and this amazing vest!

happy happy birthday!

is it just me or are there a ton of birthdays this time of year? i wasn’t the only one celebrating today… here are some pics from a party for one of visual display team members – they have a slight advantage when it comes to decorating ;)

and that’s my sweet card jemma made and the cute little plant that was waiting on my desk for me this morning :)

thank you for all the birthday wishes xoxo.

thursday poll – edition 118

i’m normally not a big heels person but we have some amazing party shoes right now that i would absolutely wear if i could walk in them… which ones do you like best?

the velvet crusher peeptoe:

the sicily lace up heels:

the luna pump:

the foxy fabric platform:

or the victorian lace ankle bootie:

time to vote!

last week’s party lookbook poll had a huge turnout- i think the largest for any thursday poll! it was close between looks three and five, but five took it with 25% – i wonder if the cute pup had something to do with it? :)

a tour of our new home

as you may know, our home offices are located in philadelphia’s navy yard, an old navy ship yard that is home to some really cool, old warehouse buildings that urban outfitters renovated to house our offices. building 15 has been our home for the last few years but next month we will be moving to the neighboring building 25, which is bigger – and has two floors as opposed to one!

on friday we were treated to a special tour of the new building (it is still under construction) and i snapped some photos to share with you all! i think we are all very excited for the move, especially after seeing the amazing new space- and the fact that it is right on the water makes me very happy :)

read on for more photos of our new home and to see the special treat waiting for us at the end…
