Lace is a trend we still can’t get over. It had a strong presence last summer and this year it’s back after Valentino, Elie Saab and Miu Miu all brought innovation into the mix with over sized reworks, eyelet patterns, and the cool awkward cute look.
Valentino Spring/Summer collection 2012
If you’re like me, love lace and bought into this trend last year, but don’t like to wear head to toe pretty, here are a few tips on how to refresh your lacey numbers. Layer your lace with a bright color pop of Neon! A bright neon vest or swimsuit under a lacey dress to give it a little more energy and then finish it off with one statement bracelet
Denim is a fabric we can’t get enough of! It’s so easy, so versatile and so cool. This week we’re all about denim dressing as you can see by ourHomepage.
The trend: Head to Toe Denim! That’s right we’re mixing and matching different tones of denim to create a bohemian rock and roll look. Yesterday we went up to the studio to see what looks we could create out of our Denim Collection ; from long and bohemian to short and funky, denim sure made us cool and easy towards the end of the day!
One of our biggest obsessions of the moment: studs.
We can’t get enough of them! On t-shirts, bags, jewelry, leather, and especially shoes – any kind of shoe – we love the cool factor they add to standard styles. What do you think about studs, do you love them as much as we do?
Check out our Hard Wear collection – there are some pretty rad studded vintage tees you don’t wanna miss!
Loafers seem to be where it’s at right now and a great transition shoe to take you into spring! Striking the perfect balance between cool and practical, they seem to be the all round shoe that’s trending. Wear as a preppy look with skinny pants and shirts or just have pure fun with them; the addition of glitter and leopard Will give these shoes a light to shine in the evening too!
Are loafers for you? And if so how would you wear them?
If you look at our accessories collection online right now, you’re sure to notice a trend – we’ve gone crazy for bracelets! This season we are all about piling up the wrists with wrap bracelets, friendship bracelets, charm bracelets and cuffs. What I love about this trend is that you can literally wear your personality on your sleeve – fashion sense, friendships and meaningful symbols are all on display, and the combinations are endless and always somehow work.
Chelsea Beaded Bracelet, Lizzie Stone Ring, Studded Zip Clutch coming mid-January. Other bracelet is a store-only style – get it at your local Free People!
The trend we are featuring on our website this week is very close to my heart: Grunge. As someone who grew up mostly in the 90’s, I know the importance of that perfectly beat up pair of jeans, soft over-sized flannel and ripped, worn-through t-shirt that you just can’t seem to part with. I watched My So Called Lifereligiously, had a crush on Jordan Catalano and wanted to be Rayanne Graff. I listened to Nirvana and Pearl Jam on cassette tape and wore Doc Martens. Grunge will always be that one trend for me that I never tire of, and will always wear, because to me its more than a trend – it’s part of who I am.
I kinda flipped over this hairdo when I saw it on our website! It’s super easy to get the look too – just tie some neon twine or ribbon into your hair and braid away! When you get to the end of the braid, use the twine to wrap around your hair as a tie. Read More
Abbey Lee is running through our minds a bit too much lately and with the launch of our Baroque trend, which is full of rich velvets, clashing textures, and beautiful jewel tones, we thought why not experiment with some looks up in the studio. We printed out some inspiration tears and got styling; here are our Abbey Lee looks!
We love Abbey Lee, and we love our new trend Baroque!
Sheer layers have been making a fashion statement around the home offices as a must-have trend. Whether worn underneath or on top, these pieces are good ways of inciting mystery. The eye gets a peek into what’s underneath, maybe a fun bandeau print or lacey detail, but never fully gets a good look. Checkout the many garments and ways in which we’re sporting the trend…
The latest trend we can’t get enough of is Snow Angel. With a new chilliness to the air and less hours of sunshine in the day, we’re brightening our spirits with shades of pink, ivory and icy blue and cozy, comfy textures that warm our souls. Winter doesn’t have to be about black, gray and deep tones, it can be as light and airy as the snow outside :) This trend makes me think of sledding all day, rosy cheeks, icicles and candy canes!
You all saw Julia’s mod inspiration yesterday, and now here’s a peak into what mod means to me. I chose the image above because I love the outfit’s chic ladylike look. She’s sophisticated, but creative, and everyone wants a look into her world.
Housewares: Clock. This clock is so modern with its clean lines and stark contrasts. I can’t help but think back to the days of mod. Its roundness also mirrors the polka dots in her blouse.
Hobbie: Painting. When I think of the mod days Andy Warhol pops into my head. I think this was an extremely creative time, and I picture our girl in a studio apartment, inspired by Warhol and painting away.
The muse: My grandmother. This is a photo that I stole from one of my grandparents many photo albums. The pages are packed with my grandma in retro clothing, always maintaining herself in a feminine and proper way. The highly styled hair, the blouses, and especially the coats all remind me of the mod image.
Animal: Zebra. Wild souls that have never been tamed…they run free as a bold contrast throughout their environment. The mod woman is attracted to their vivacity, and can’t help but love that pattern…
The Scent: Miss Dior Cherie. The bottle is so prim and proper, but the scent inside is kind of funky. I picture this girl having the bottle sitting on her vanity as she gets ready each morning.
