Free People Girls Rock

We have a really fun video to share with you today! One of our FP girls is in a local band called Ruby The Hatchet, and they recently held a basement jam session with a bunch of our Free People girls in session.  Jillian, who sings in the band, is such an inspiration to watch — check it out, and read what she has to say about performing below! music for the morning

i recently discovered beck’s record club and i think the whole premise behind it is pretty awesome. the record club is an informal meeting of musicians who come together to record an album in a day.  they have done albums by the velvet underground, leonard cohen, inxs and even yanni.  the results are pretty great- and they post a video of them recording the tracks once a week.  they are rough renditions, often first takes, which i think makes it even cooler.

here’s one of my favorites, from the songs of leonard cohen, with a group that includes Devendra Banhart, Ben, Andrew and Will from MGMT, Andrew from Wolfmother, Binki Shapiro from Little Joy and Beck.

interesting note- this album was picked by andrew of MGMT, and their second choice was ace of base. can you imagine how that would sound?
