Our display team continues to blow my mind… for Fall they have turned our stores into an enchanted forest of color and texture. Window screens crafted out of tree branches, sweater fragments, neon tape, yarn and other embellishments invite you into the store, where you are greeted by walls hung with embroidered canvas sacks, wooden flowers, patchwork flannel canvases embellished with sequins and cutouts, and even a magical free people deer. Take a look!
One of our fp girls cut pieces of her own sweater to use in the branch screen, making a cute crop top!
I love the colorful branches! Some are wrapped in fabric or string and some are painted. There are so many different fun combinations you can try!
Some of the canvas sacks are stuffed with sticks, while others hang flat on the walls. I love the bright colors and patterns of the embroidery!
The detail in these sequin blanket canvases is incredible.
All the tiny details make me smile.
This might be my favorite part – wooden flowers are taped in rows to the walls with neon pink duct tape! I am definitely thinking about doing this at my apartment.
how amazing do the flowers look on the wood panels?!
One store made their own little “barn” with wood and drew on it with chalk :)
pretty rad bike.
And last but certainly not least… the deer! Each store has one, and it arrived at the store as a plain statue which they then paint and embellish. So amazing! I love that each one is unique and special.
What do you guys think of the fall displays? What’s your favorite part?
in november we opened our 39th store in nashville, TN in the mall at green hills. we’ve begun to create stores that are as unique as our product and one of the aspects of this store that has us very excited is the art finish on the storefront.
we were inspired by the idea of hammered nail heads and patterns found in nature – based on fibonacci patterns like the golden spiral found in sunflowers.
the geometric pattern was carefully created in graphic format and then printed full scale on the substrate. over 9,000 brass discs were then individually attached and sent out to be installed in the field. once the panels were installed an artist applied a rich layer of plaster and wax to finish the walls.
the walls subtly glimmer and catch your eye from across the atrium. this finish took a lot of work and collaboration but we think it feels just right for our first nashville store! next time you are in nashville be sure to check it out!
like it or not, fall is just around the corner… which of course means new store displays! here are some shots of the new displays at our king of prussia, PA store. the rich colors and the added texture of the yarn is perfect for fall, bringing to mind a cozy knit sweater you just want to wrap yourself up in.
i love how the fabric seems to be dripping from the ceiling, like the store is oozing creativity.
you may recognize the fabric covered vases that have been pictured around our home office and at our costa mesa store.
i think my favorite part of the display is the yarn. it is also used as decoration here at the home office – i love it, the colors make me happy :)
back in the section of our new building where our visual display team sits, there is a door that is usually partially open, but i’ve never gone in. that is, until the other day… when i slipped in and realized it was their new workspace. this is where you’re likely to find upcoming store displays that they are working on as well as furniture, fabric and boxes of trinkets that i could dig through for ours. what i would give to be able to decorate my apartment using this stuff…
i wanted to share some photos of a really fun project two of our interns were working on today! walker, or visual display intern, and mallie, our creative team intern, were asked to transform a part of our office to make it look like a free people store!
here is the space earlier this morning:
and now, at the end of the day, this is what it looks like:
it looks great – i can’t believe they did all that in one day! nice work ladies!!
one of our visual display team members is heading to california (where she’ll be working on displays for our west-coast stores) and to send her off they took advantage of the nice weather to have a festive outdoor gathering. check out more great pics from the party below!
