august catalog inspiration

On it’s way to you, our August catalog! The inspiration for this collection is a mix of art nouveau, mod and glam. Kind of dark, decorative and beautiful… Our catalog team was in London a few months ago, on their way out to shoot the Grunge Princess July catalog at Vintage Vacations. While in London, they met up with some friends at a restaurant. The atmosphere was so amazing there and they decided it was perfect for their next shoot! They also scouted some other locations, a private home and a beautiful park.

I think you guys should do a write up in the blog on how to tie scarves! There are so many new beautiful scarves in stock now and there put on the models in such a neat way, I would love to know how its done.

Aww the new catalog is fabulous!! I ADORE the cover…it’s brilliant! With the peacock feathers branching out and the “F.P.” painted on…*sigh*…amazing! I love the mod, sixites, BIBA feel! It’s lovely!!! I especially love those sixties inspired “carpet coats” as I like to call them! Amazing!!
I also had a suggestion for the site!! Since Free people has sooo many amazing catalogs and I love to look to them for inspiration, I was wondering if the site could have a bit of an “archive” for all of the catlogs and put them virtually online! I know I adored the last fall and winter ones from last year, but unfortunatley lost those, although I try to keep them all! So being able to see it online would be wonderful! Thanks free people!

I just got the printed catalog and wanted to tell you how much I love the peacock feather theme. It runs so deep and is so multi-level. What a beautiful and creative approach to creating a sense of place, and of over-arching style. Awesome.
