christine gray

i can’t stop staring at this artwork by christine gray.  it’s colorful and trippy and brings to mind the atmosphere at a music festival – probably because the one with the tents and bonfire reminds me of burning man.

Late Lights

i want to be in this last image jumping on the trampoline into fiery night skies…

about her artwork, christine says, “in my work i look at the cultural mythologies that misrepresent nature and our relationship to it. i remake landscapes according to these fictions through both objects and painting, thereby adding to and revealing the fallacy of these representations. the sculptural tableaux i make as models for my paintings are theatrical, temporary situations where the real and imagined collapse into a space outlined by contradictory boundaries. extraordinary outcomes are made feasible by the distortion of the everyday. my most recent body of work focuses on the american myth of the seeker, traveling alone through untouched landscapes in search of a revelatory experience of the divine.”

real fp girls – part 9

my greatest loves are my husband, family and friends… i also love penguins and butterflies! my favorite place in the world is the great barrier reef in austrailia. i went there on my honeymoon and had the most amazing time! the weather, the water and the landscape were unforgettable. i love to shop and walk around NYC, people watch, eat at new restaurants, spend time with friends and hang out with my family in florida. on a typical day off i’ll exercise, walk around the city and explore new places, spend time in central park, catch up on tv from the week and go out to a fun dinner with friends!

real fp girls – part 7

my greatest loves are my family and good friends – but i also love rice, japanese restaurants and flip flops (slippers)! my favorite place in the world is probably the beach, the couch with my brother, or my bed. i love sleep, even though i don’t always get a lot! a big hobby of mine is definitely sports. i was always a bit of a jock, playing my whole life and through college. my family has always been pretty athletic.   right now i’m still living at home and enjoying my relaxing saturdays! on a typical day off i’ll sleep in, mostly spend the day with my little cousins that are the cutest, funniest kids in the world (that ranges from playing pretty pretty princess to kickball). end the day with a movie, a beer and some laughs…i call that a good day! i’m inspired on a daily basis by my mood. depending on how i’m feeling on a certain day is what probably makes me notice certain things i might not on another day.  also just working here is very inspirational – everyone’s tastes are so different and exciting to see!

nests_wide

literally, it’s pretty wild!  scientists have recently discovered a rare type of bee that makes its nest out of flower petals in a method similar to papier-mâché! the result is so beautiful – i would love to see one in real life…but since that probably won’t happen maybe i’ll collect some petals and try to recreate my own little papier-mâché project.  who knew bees could be such talented artists?! :)

i saw this studio on design sponge and i had to share, it is so beautiful! i love the framed chalkboard and all the different prints and patterns on the wall in the last photo… reminds me very much of free people. i’ve been really into the mixed prints right now, probably as a result of all the inspiration on our website but it hadn’t occurred to me to try it in my home. i love how it looks and it’s a great way to make a somewhat empty space (like my apartment- i am seriously lacking in furniture) and make it feel more busy and full.
