Store Style: Blue Jean Baby

In case you couldn’t tell by looking at our website, we’re pretty into denim right now – even the good old Canadian tuxedo!  But even if head to toe denim is a little too much for you, we love finding ways to incorporate pieces of it into every outfit, and it feels so fresh for Spring. Here’s some styling inspiration from our always-lovely store girls!

The denim bustier dress is definitely our dress of the moment – change it up a little by adding a slip underneath!

The perfect cutoff denim short – wear them now with tights and boots; wear them later with bare legs and sandals – and of course the laguna coast pullover!

A sweet Meadow look: the fp high rise flares, flower smocked tube top and suede floral headband.

I love how she paired the denim bustier dress with a belt in a contrasting shade of blue – the dress also looks great with the caballero tall boot and jane wide brim hat.

The denim bustier dress looks absolutely adorable with boots or converse!

And lastly, we love the denim bustier dress with the traveler denim jacket!

Spring Trend: Pastel

Spring fashion is starting to creep onto our homepage and I’m finding it hard not to dive straight into the fresh florals, pastel colours and lighter fabrics. Here in Philly we still have a couple more months until the weather starts to change. In the meantime I’m sourcing the spring 2012 runway trends to see what’s going to be hot fashion when the sun shines it’s warmth on us.

Last week we had florals this week we have pastels! Candy shades seem to be a lovely direction and we love the idea of wearing two shades together and making a full blown impact – I’m sure it will put a smile on anyone’s face if you look as sweet as a candy cane.

We loved what Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Jonathan Saunders and Jaeger showcased, our sweet tooth got big, now… where’s the bag of Cadbury’s mini eggs!

One of our biggest obsessions of the moment: studs.

We can’t get enough of them! On t-shirts, bags, jewelry, leather, and especially shoes – any kind of shoe – we love the cool factor they add to standard styles. What do you think about studs, do you love them as much as we do?

Check out our Hard Wear collection – there are some pretty rad studded vintage tees you don’t wanna miss!

NYFW street style

Yesterday New York street fashion came alive with pops of neon; we spent the day back and forth between the Lincoln Center and Milk studios trying to hunt down some looks that caught our eye.
It’s always so fascinating watching how people choose to dress themselves and you can always read something about their personality just by what they are wearing. I for one love soaking in fashion; it’s like a book it makes your imagination run wild.

Pretty pastels were teased by bright pops, and yes spring florals are starting to creep their way in, bring on the spring!

In the evening we finished off the day at the Betsy Johnson show and as you can expect it was quite a performance, full of energy and bright lights it was hard to keep up! Here’s round one of our Street Style, more to come tomorrow!

Style File: Assistant Graphic Designer

Our Assistant Graphic Designer is fairly new to the company. She came on the scene with a giant smile and quirky style. To my experience, she showed up in a meeting one day with bright points to contribute and a dress that was to die. Graphically, her designs feel fresh. Fashion-wise, she has a cool vintage look and sticks too it. It’s full of tough to replicate, one-of-a-kind items that always come together perfectly. In Free People terms – the Molly style with its own spin – of this tiny, beautiful, and full-of-light character are freshly inspirational. Read on and see what I mean… Read More
