With the introduction of our retro girl Molly we have gone Peter Pan collar crazy. The trend that derived from the 1900’s has come back around in a fun and girly way and we love the addition it makes to a neckline.
The look is girly and sophisticated – you almost feel like you need to jump on a plane and head straight to Paris whenever you wear this look! What’s different about the Peter Pan collar? Well, it’s flat and rounded and became popular after the American stage actress Maude Adams wore such a collar in her costume when she played the role of Peter Pan in 1905! How cute?!
Now girls are wearing this look in modern new ways, (see the street photos below) and it’s pretty contagious. Today I played around with some looks and how I would incorporate this look into my style.
Look one: make it look less serious by teaming it with high waisted denim shorts, colourful hat, quirky glasses and brogues to add a cool edge.
On the streets – ladies keep it classic but add a fun element like round glasses or a printed skirt like Alexa Chung
Look two: a more classic look with a pop of red in the accessory to give it a flirtatious feel
