Outside Lands 2012 has been the perfect example of San Francisco’s unpredictable weather. Despite abnormally warm temperatures and sunshine in downtown San Fran and surrounding areas, Golden Gate Park is a magnet for the fog and significantly colder than everywhere else. As a result the fashion has been an eclectic mix of layers very representative of the city itself. The music on day two was outstanding – the Alabama Shakes played to the largest audience I’ve seen at Sutro Stage (one of the festival’s smaller stages) and they did not disappoint. On the main stage Tame Impala and Explosions In The Sky brought good vibes to the air and later in the day The Kills were my personal highlight. Alison Mosshart took the stage like a pacing wild cat with fiery yellow/orange ombre hair, and shooting her, and watching her and Jamie Hince’s on-stage chemistry, was a joy – I’ll have more photos from their set coming soon but you can take a sneak peek on our tumblr. Dr. Dog played an awesome set at night at the Panhandle stage and I had the pleasure of talking to their drummer Eric so stay tuned for that interview! I also got to hang out for a bit with the guys from Caveman who will play the festival this afternoon and also have an after-show at The Independent tonight. It was an awesome day and now we’re off for day three!
