Who To See At Outside Lands 2012-Our Ultimate Playlist

Just three days to go until Outside Lands 2012! I can barely contain my excitement – not only is the festival in one of my favorite places in the world, the lineup also includes some of my favorite bands! Here’s a look at who we’re excited to see at Outside Lands.

Also, don’t forget to stop by Free People Corte Madera on Thursday from 2pm – 6pm to kick-start your weekend with DIY activities, festival paint and more fun! RSVP here.

The festival starts with a bang on Friday with Neil Young and Crazy Horse headlining! I’ve seen Neil a couple of times but I’m especially looking forward to seeing him perform in Golden Gate Park and he always puts on an incredible show. Before Neil I want to catch Of Monsters And Men, Washed Out, Tennis, and hopefully Beck and The Walkmen, too!

outside lands saturday

Saturday has a lineup packed with bands I love, and though I know I won’t be able to make it to all of them I will make sure I don’t miss The Kills, Dr. Dog, Tame Impala, and Sigur Ros. Not pictured but also playing Saturday are the Alabama Shakes, Passion Pit, and Thee Oh Sees, who I’d love to catch.

outside lands sunday

Before I head to the airport on Sunday night I want to see Jack White, Bloc Party, and my buds from Caveman, and of course as much of Stevie Wonder’s set as I can! When you have so many bands in the same place, there’s a very good chance of seeing some awesome collaborations as well.  Last year one of the highlights was Mavis Staples and Win Butler (of Arcade Fire) doing “The Weight”. I would love to see Neil Young and Jack White battle it out on guitar, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see White and his Dead Weather band-mate Alison Mosshart get together on something! What collaborations would you want to see at this year’s festival?

SF seems like the quintessential Free People city – funky, boho, free spririted – yet no FP store here. What gives?
