Friday evening the sun was glowing its last light as I snuggled on the train to go to New York City. The notion of public transport makes my mind sink into deep mystery storytelling: I thought of the past, I thought of the present, and I thought of the near future.

I was surprisingly longing for fall to come; I’m ready to wear sweaters, cozy coats, boots and knitted hats. So on Friday, the 11th of August, a sweater went to NYC, come rain or shine.
I woke early Saturday morning. Early mornings are always the best in New York City. You feel such great energy outside, however I decided to stay in the apartment. I made a small cup of coffee and ran my fingers through British Vogue. I wanted a slow morning… one where I follow my own music.
I hung around for a while, dilly dallying around, wondering what to do for the rest of the day. I love when things just happen, when there are no plans and things just roll magically through the day.
We headed into Manhattan. Whenever I’m in this “Big Apple” I always feel the need to run around like a crazy person, but this Saturday I didn’t… I strolled. I strolled through the market in Union Square, letting go of the hustle and bustle that was around me.
We carried on to Washington Square Park, one of my favorite parks in NYC. I’m always drawn to unusual creative types and here I find many to feast my eyes upon and admire. And there’s nothing better than getting a little feel of some water.
We walked through the East Village and picked up some frozen yogurt from Pinkberry and went a little crazy on the toppings: raspberries, gummy bears, chocolate chips… you name it. You kind of have to though, right?
Come five o’clock in the afternoon we were ready to step foot off Manhattan and head back to Brookyln. The weather was beautiful; there was a slight breeze in the air. We didn’t want to be stuck in tunnels underground, so we walked over the never-ending Williamsburg Bridge home. It wasn’t so bad – we stopped halfway to admire the towering skyline and giggled at some of the crazy graffiti that was written around us.
After an hour of walking, we finally made it home and laid on the roof with a cold glass of wine. Manhattan was in the distance and we threw wishes into the sky: “Let us have a magical evening, New York” – and we sure did!
