Pastel Shades And Pretty Braids

Light hair decorated in pastel tones is a look we love, softly twisted into sweet braids. The colors are subtle and dreamlike – My Little Pony comes to mind. We’re huge fans of colored hair here at Free People, whether its dip dye, streaks or full color. So when we saw a lot of inspiration tears showing pastel-colored hair twisted into braids, we fell more in love.

If you have light hair, you are lucky! You can easily achieve this look with hair chalk and experiment with how it looks in braids. Darker hair might be a little trickier. We’re itching to try this out and may do a tutorial in the near future, but for now we’re just dreaming about it and how cool it will look against a fall-colored outfit.

Hey!
So I love this idea, but I don’t love the colors that hairchalk.com offers! Have you ever used these? Do you know if they come up as shown, or do they come up lighter? Because I would really want to create the pastel look! Let me know! Also, I have pretty light blonde hair – so I don’t know if this also affects how color comes up?!

Hi Sasha, if you click on the hair chalk link above it will take you directly to a place you can purchase it. Janella the hair chalk is temporary not permanent, it will wash out :) and Kait we have never used this product, but we plan on testing it out soon, i believe it can come out pretty light if you just put a little on and if you want a more prominent color just keeping adding to it. If you search for hair chalk on line a few options come up :)

hope this helps xx

You can also purchase chalks at a craft store and they will work just about the same for probably a fraction of the cost…i dip dyed my red hair pink last summer and I love it so much, it stayed in for almost a year, I have been thinking about doing it again…hmm..

WOW! This is AWESOME! Do you think it will have the same effect on slightly darker hair?

I have darkish brown hair, and I managed to get red and blue chalk to show up very well! Blue was more obvious, but both looked great
