Dree Hemingway is definitely one of my personal style muses. I have always loved the way she dresses but more than that, she has such a strong presence and eyes that seem to look right through you with their powerful gaze. It’s hard to ignore her impressive ancestry as well, starting with her great-grandfather – legendary writer Ernest Hemingway. Read More

Wedding Inspiration From The Free People Family
Our assistant art director recently got married to a photographer we often work with (Thomas Northcut) and as soon as I heard about it I knew I had to ask if we could share some photos, because I knew it would be stunning. The wedding took place in Maine, against a breathtaking backdrop of coastal scenery and amongst the couple’s closest friends and family. I love the casual, relaxed vibe of the wedding and special details like the kid’s tent (one of the adorable printed tents we used to sell at Free People), the beer boat, colorful confetti, and a bonfire complete with s’more-making. You can tell from looking at the photos that a lot of love was in the air. Read More

Inside The Artist Studio: Lily Stockman
Last week I had the pleasure of visiting artist Lily Stockman in her New York City studio, located in an old building on NYU’s campus the East Village. It was a grey, overcast day, but I found myself comfortably ensconced in her beautifully lit space with Ethiopian piano music playing, a cup of hot tea in my hands, and so much beauty to look at. I couldn’t have asked for a more lovely way to start the day than spending it there, talking to her about art, Joshua Tree, India, blogging and more. I absolutely love talking to artists – there is something so fascinating about the way their minds work, and the stories behind their work. There is always so much more than meets the eye. Read More
