When winter comes, one of my absolute favorite things is waking up on a Saturday morning and opening my curtains to find a fresh blanket of beautiful white snow covering every bit of green or brown that had been visible the night before. The way the sunlight glistens off the snow is nothing short of breathtaking. It makes me feel like a little girl, as I’m reminded of beloved snow days and all of the snoman building, sleigh riding, movie watching, and hot chocolate drinking that went along with them.
Today I’m attempting to recreate those nostalgic snow day feelings with a bit of nail polish and some extra fine glitter. I call this creation Snow Nails.
What you need:
White nail polish
Clear nail polish
Extra fine loose white glitter (I got mine at A.C. Moore)
What you do:
1. Apply one or two coats of white nail polish and let dry. I used two coats.
2. Pour a small mound glitter onto a flat surface. It may be helpful to pour the glitter on top of a piece of paper because you can use it to easily fix the shape should your mound go flat.
3. Apply one coat of clear polish onto one of your nails and press the nail face-down into the glitter.
4. Repeat step 3 on each finger.
5. When your nails are dry, run your fingers under cold water to remove any excess glitter.
Ta-dah! Snow nails! (& I’m wearing the Motif Midi Ring)
I chose not to add a clear coat on top of the glitter because I felt that it would take away from the snowy feeling, but you could totally use a top coat for longer lasting snow nails. It might also look cool if you chose to make only one nail into a snow nail and keep the rest plain white! Experiment and see what you like best. :)
