Recipe: Fizzy Ginger Holiday Cocktail

The holidays are upon us now, and if you’re looking for a festive cocktail to serve at your New Year’s Eve party or just to sip on while cuddling by the fire with your sweetie on Christmas Eve, we’ve got the recipe for you. I was a bartender for a brief period of time and ever since I’ve loved coming up with my own drink concoctions – it’s so much fun to experiment with different ingredients, and even more fun when you get to sample your experiments :). I wanted to make something festive and fizzy for the holidays and this mixture did just the trick. If you have a favorite cocktail, leave it in the comments below, I’d love to try it out!

No! Don’t shake gin! Gin should be stirred or else it can be ‘bruised’!

Nice rendition of an old favorite. You add a little lemon juice to brighten the flavor as well. A ‘French 75’, because the kick’s powerful enough that it felt like you were getting shelled by a 75mm.

Fun! Thanks for sharing!! I’ve been wondering what new, fun holiday mixed drinks I could serve at my Christmas party. :)

Shaking the Champagne? Sparkling beverages are not meant to be shaken because of the gas. It would be better to shake the others and finish the glass by filling it up with the Champagne, later you can stir the whole drink gently with a bar spoon or just let the mix task to the drinker by using the cinnamon stick for.

In the other hand that garnishes can modify so much the flavor of the drink that I don’t see them as optional. Placing the cranberries previously frozen and slightly notching the fruit skin will make a slow & controlled flavor release (plus will make the beverage colder without adding watter), something will happen by default with the cinnamon stick.

A bitter dash would add the perfect finishing touch to this drink. I recommend to drink this matching some gingerbread, specifically Lebkuchen.
