What We Wear: The Blog Team’s Favorite Styles

As you probably know, within the Free People brand are several smaller labels such as FP One, FP Beach, New Romantics, We The Free, and more.  We realized one day that with our distinctly different styles, we each definitely have a favorite from these labels. It’s so interesting to see which style we each love and how it reflects our personalities. Check out some of our picks from our favorite labels – and let us know what Free People label is YOUR favorite!

Brigette’s Pick: FP New Romantics

I am a New Romantics girl without a doubt. The whole vibe of the label is very feminine and romantic, which is so in sync with my personal style — both in fashion and in decor. The designer Gianna always fills her collections with sheer, flowy fabrics and lots of textures, all with unexpected details that make you stop and appreciate the little things in life. I am always striving to fill my world with all things whimsical and dreamy, and whenever I put on a New Romantics piece, my world becomes that much dreamier.

FP New Romantics Trailing Stars Flounce Tunic: I’m (clearly) a sucker for all things ivory, but what really got me about this piece were the drop waist shape and the embroidery on the front. This tunic is a MUST for creating a beautiful layered look. I’d wear it with, like, 17 different slips underneath and call it a day.

FP New Romantics Dotted Lines Pullover: The texturized dots on this piece are quite unexpected, and that’s what I love about it. I’d wear this with a black mini, thigh highs, and rugged laced-up boots for an afternoon spent at a cafe with my friends.

FP New Romantics Oldie But A Goodie Skirt (wearing): This is my favorite New Romantics piece at the moment. The skirt is incredibly light and has the most adorable, delicate corset tie on the front. It can easily be dressed up or dressed down and, as long as it’s styled right, I can imagine wearing this skirt during all four seasons.

FP New Romantics Stole My Heart Dress: This dress has so many surprises all rolled up into one: velvet, chains, ribbon — you name it! I love that there is so much going on, yet every aspect of this dress comes together in harmony to create something beautiful. Throw on some black tights and a pair of black heeled booties and you’re ready to go out for the night.

FP New Romantics Reflections in Crochet Pullover (wearing): I think I’m going to go ahead and say that this is the most beautiful pullover I’ve ever encountered. It oversized and cozy, but has an added touch of crochet to keep it feminine. The floral crochet details are just stunning. I want to live in this piece all winter long.

Julia’s Pick: FP Beach

free people blogger picks

At first, I wasn’t quite sure which label I would choose… but I started browsing through the website and it became very clear (and should have been obvious): I am a beach girl through and through. I didn’t even realize how many pieces from the label I own! I love FP Beach because of the comfortable, basic, easy silhouettes that you can pretty much live in all year round.  I have found that in terms of style, I gravitate towards pieces like this, that go with everything, and that I never tire of because they’re wardrobe staples – like an easy tee or a comfy solid maxi dress.

Fit For A Princess Dress (wearing): I didn’t expect to love this dress so much, but it’s the perfect mix of casual and romantic with its t-shirt like material and ruffled bottom.  I would pair it just how I did in this photo, with a Slouchy Beanie and the Studded Seattle Love Boot.

Ribbed Up Maxi Cardigan: This is such an essential piece, and I love that it can be worn as a cardigan or buttoned up on its own as a dress! This is the perfect summer sweater, too, for chilly beach evenings.

Ex Boyfriend Tee: I would buy this shirt in every color if I could… it’s incredibly soft and has the perfect fit. It really does feel like your boyfriend’s perfect worn out tee that you want to steal!

Homerun Dress: I’m a sucker for baseball style tees…they appeal to the tomboy in me.  I love the play on the classic style in a dress form, and the option to wear it with a cinched waist or loose.

Big Dipper Oversized Tee: This is one of my favorite pieces of the moment… I love wearing it with a maxi skirt for an unexpected pairing or with tights and shorts. It’s a must have this season!

Shani’s Pick: We The Free

free people blogger picks

I chose We The Free because it’s what’s already in my closet. The shapes, fabrics, and colors are very much in line with my style. I’m on a forever mission to find clothing that’s comfortable and cute at the same time, and my standards can be pretty high so this is not always an easy task. It’s not enough to pair a slim pant with a slouchy top. The top has to have the right shape, and even though it’s slouchy, it should still flatter you. We The Free makes this search effortless, and I appreciate that. Also, it definitely doesn’t hurt that these pieces keep me warm and cozy without making me feel like I’m wearing too much volume.

Billie Jean Thermal: Ah, Billie Jean. My BFF (sorry to my actual BFF).  Any day of the week, you’ll find 5+ girls at the home office wearing a version of the Billie Jean Thermal. It’s the perfect “I don’t know what to wear today” top. She’s a lifesaver.

We The Free Military Jacket: If I didn’t stop myself, my entire wardrobe would be army green. I like that this jacket is a nice change from the oversized military parkas I’ve already got. It’s nice to have something a little more tailored.

Vintage Printed Thermal: I love playing with prints, particularly when I can combine several. The subtlety of this one makes it a really versatile piece in my wardrobe. I couldn’t decide between the floral and the camo, so naturally I picked both.

Hang Ten Top (wearing): As I mentioned, it’s all about the perfect slouchy top. This one is perfect in layered looks, or by itself in a messy tuck. I love adding huge statement necklaces to everything, particularly sweaters.

The tunic that is black and gold in the first picture is only shown on the website as a blue color. I would love to buy the black and gold version! Will it be available ever on the website?
