DIY Decor: How To Use Dried Flowers

I’ve been doing some redecorating at home lately, mostly centered around two new additions: a couch and a record player (and ever-growing record collection).  This time of year I always crave a fresh start and I like to think of my white walls as a blank canvas that can always change. This year I love the idea of incorporating lots of dried flowers into my home decor.  There is something so beautiful about their delicate, decayed state that adds an element of intrigue to the home.  Here are two ways that I am using dried flowers in my home decor!

The first idea is to mix dried flowers and vintage photos and Polaroids to create a delicate arrangement on the wall.  I liked the simplicity of using masking tape to hang the photos and twine to hang the flowers from nails in the wall.

I have some beautiful vintage postcards that I got at Uncommon Objects in Austin, and I felt that this was the perfect way to display them! They actually came with clear plastic sleeves to help protect them so I just taped the plastic sleeves right to the wall.

Play around with your arrangement until you’re happy with how it looks. I felt like this needed a little something more so I thought it would be fun to add a couple more nails and hang some jewelry and small objects.

Here’s my finished arrangement:

The second way I’m using dried flowers to decorate is by simply hanging them from a piece of fishing line, creating a really nice floral element. I’m thinking about doing this over my bed as a makeshift “headboard”!

Lovely!! I’ve done this once but how do you keep the dried flowers from falling apart?? They’re so delicate and fragile, pieces sometimes fall off when I hang them up. Help?!

So cute! Love the skeleton key. A “bouquet” of skeleton keys hung on the wall would be a cool idea too.

I love this. My kids bring me flowers all the time and I hesitate to throw them out. This would be a cute way to extend their life, for sure!

Hello to all. I remembe when my grandmother was drying herbs and flowers in our home. She made bouquets of flowers in a vase then. I remember they looked lovely for whole winter until next summer when we pick up new and fresh flowers. Herbs were on the wall for whole winter as they smels nice. Grandmother crumbled in small quantities and has placed in the closet whenever we had guests.

beautiful!!!
