Color Inspiration: Seeing Red

We are seeing red this week, in a good way! Items in this color are catching our eyes. From dresses, blouses, lingerie, and even cute little socks. Red has more personal associations than any other color, it draws attention, increases energy, encourages confidence, it’s also the highest arc in the rainbow. Did you know that bees can’t see red!?

Maybe it’s because love is in the air and we’re super excited about the launch of our February catalog next week that’s all about love. Red is the color of love, it’s powerful there’s no question about it.

We love these cute little Ruffle Dot Socks as a fun way to celebrate Valentines Day.

And of course… any dress that’s a little red number.

My name is Randi, I am a nineteen year old warm blooded California girl who has entered her second year in college, and realized she is in the complete wrong major. I am in the process of deciding which major to switch to, (it’s a tossup between English or Journalism), but I need advice. I have an idea of what I want the future of my career to look like. I love to write, I love fashion, and I love exploring new and creative facets of my right brain. My question is this, what, if any definitive path, would you suggest for me to be a part of a brand team like Free People. FP is my go-to clothing line, and my inspiration for more than just trends in fashion. FP has a lot of underlying vigor outside the seams of the garments it creates. I want to be a part of creating that inspiration. I believe working for a brand like Free People would be an amazing stepping stone to a future in the field of fashion journalism. Ultimately, working for a magazine would be the end goal I would have in mind, but being in touch with ones truest self and experiencing new things is what life is all about, right? I think working on the vision team, blogging for the website, helping create the vision board for upcoming catalogs, seeing what’s a trending, photographing real life individual, places, things in nature to gain inspiration, etc. I would love to do all of that, I am just stuck. I don’t know which direction will be most beneficial to me. What employers at places such as Free People will be looking for, and what is expected from the teams of people who are already working there? What will they need from me, in order for my addition to the “family” be a success? I understand this is a long and lengthy email, and I’m sure this is not the only message dinging in your inbox for the whole day. But, if there is any empathy to be felt, a spark of knowledge to be shared, or a simple sentence for guidance; anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to whoever is reading my exasperating stream of consciousness, if you have even allowed your eyes to reach the bottom of this email. The time taken is nevertheless appreciated. I tried to send this to the email under “contact” but it wouldn’t send, so I opted for the comment route on a blog post.

Studies show that humans find the color red to be most attractive.
