Meet The Model In Our Short Film, Sheila Marquez

If you’ve watched our short film Roshambo, you may have asked yourself, who is that girl?? The stunning Spanish model has been popping up on our website quite a bit in the past few months and now she is the star of our February catalog and first short film. I caught up with Sheila to ask her about her personal style, beauty and of course, her most embarrassing date moment!

How was your experience shooting the first Free People short film, Roshambo?

I was a bit scared in the beginning since I have never acted before. But an amazing professional team is involved in this project and all together they made this experience fun and magical!

What’s the most romantic thing someone’s ever done for you?

I was once asked to get married under the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Do you have any embarrassing first date stories?

After massive nonstop texting with my boyfriend he was waiting for me at the airport for our second encounter with 2 coffees in his hands…. I was so nervous that first thing I did was drop both cups while trying to hug him. I made a mess!

What is your go-to outfit?

Blazer, tank top, skinny pants and Beatle boots.

What would you wear on a Valentine’s Day date with someone you really like?

Something sexy but comfortable that allow to be myself that night. I would probably cook and dine at home so some distressed denim with an oversized top that shows my shoulder and a bunch of jewelery.

What essential items do you always like to have on you while traveling?

Leather jacket, workout gear, oversize shirt as pj’s, biker boots, hats, cute little dress for unexpected dinners or parties and nice underwear that makes you feel pretty all the way!

What beauty products do you always like to have on hand?

RMS lip and skin balm and raw cold press coconut oil.

What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever learned?

Stay hydrated and eat healthy! Don’t over do your makeup or hair and try to make your best features more noticeable… for example if you really like your lips do a clean face make up with a fun lipstick color.

What albums are you currently listening to non-stop?

I’m obsessed with The Lumineers and Lord Huron – they play the soundtrack for our short film and I can’t stop listening to them any time of the day! Can’t wait to see them live at Coachella!

What’s your favorite healthy snack when you’re on the go?

I spend a lot of time in airports and choices are not amazing so I try to always have raw nuts and some organic raw chocolate with me.

I love her hair in the video and catalog this month, especially her bangs! So chic and effortless. Can you make a post on how to style hair like hers along with advice on whether or not that type of bangs will look good with different face shapes? I would love to try out bangs like that but I’m not sure if it will look good on me.

I was wondering if you could tell us what your/her tattoo, pictured in the catalog, of a cross with an oval symbolizes?

Hola! Thanks everyone here for the love! I use the coconut oil as a moisturizer and as a make up remover, it’s very gentle and great for the skin. My tattoo symbolizes family and its on my left side next to my heart. Besosssss!

I was so curious about her, thanks for posting this! She sounds like my soul sister — love her beauty tips, and of course, anyone who can’t stop listening to Lord Huron…
Hope to see more of this talented lady!

I love the tattoo. Is it a universal symbol for family? Or specific to you? I’ve tried to find information about the symbol and can’t find anything! Seriously considering getting it myself! x
