Recipe: An Easter Favorite From The UK

When I was young and Easter was approaching, I always looked forward to these little treats that we used to make and give to our friends and family. To this day, come March they are constantly on my mind. I find it hard not to make them! These simple, quick, and easy treats are fun and cheerful to make and will take up no time at all – all you need is shredded wheat, chocolate to melt, and mini eggs!

Here’s how to make simple and sweet Easter Nests:

Ingredients: shredded wheat, melting chocolate drops, a bag of mini eggs, and optional paper baking cups.

Melt the chocolate drops in a saucepan on low heat stirring constantly (I used about 2 cups of chocolate drops which will make around 4 large nests).

Add in the shredded wheat (I used 2 bundles), breaking it up as you add,  stirring it into the melted chocolate. Once all the shredded wheat is coated in chocolate, scoop out a spoonful and mold onto a plate into a nest. Push your figure into the middle, this is where your mini eggs will lay. If you don’t want to make large sized nests you can also make small ones, (big enough for one egg) that are cute for gift giving.

these are also an awesome (and healthy) dessert when you use Fiber One original cereal instead of shredded wheat- when it’s not Easter I love to mix shredded coconut in! so good.
