Jemma’s Meditation Challenge

Meditation is hard, very hard. How does one just push away thoughts and be at one with inner peace? Over these last couple of weeks I have been reading and studying different forms of meditation and how to adapt your mind and thinking before I fully plunge into my mediation series.

I have decided I’m going to participate in Buddhist mindfulness meditation: knowing the mind, training the mind, and freeing the mind., But first I have to prepare myself to get the full experience from my meditation. To do this I have been thinking about he word RAIN – Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Non-identification.

To make my mind peaceful before mediation I have been thinking about these four words on a daily basis, going home at night and closing my eyes in pure silence trying to train my mind. I  Recognize what is happening, I  Allow life to be, I Investigate what I am exploring and then, finally I try and rest in Non-identification, resting in my natural awareness allowing thoughts and feelings to simply come and then go. As I’m doing this I try and think about the ocean, a peaceful place where the waves come and go, it helps a lot with me trying to push thoughts away.

After plenty of studying and trying to train my mind ready for the full series, I will begin my classes this week and will write a journal for you weekly.

Stay tuned!

Jemma which class are you taking?

Jemma, this is great!! I got inspired by you and tried to do a Bikram challenge but it didnt’ work for me. I did a few classes and each time got a migraine that lasted for 3 days after. I also had a bad feeling about the place. It was nothing like the one you went to, this really felt weird, like a cult. The instructors were really unapproachable and didn’t care when a girl in the class felt really ill. I wish there was a yoga place like the one you went to near me :o(

The hardest part of practicing meditation is committing the time to start. But once we set a few minutes every day in achieving that goal of practicing meditation, it will naturally become part of our schedule. Good luck, Jemma! You can make it!
