I live in a small row home in Fishtown, Philadelphia. It’s old and I like that. A trickle of sunshine seeps through on a sunny day… that’s when my home feels the most magical — and at night when then sun is going down and I get to light my favorite candles. Inside my home is quite simple. I moved here from the UK with one suitcase of clothes, so I’ve been gradually collecting things over the years that mean a lot to me and tell a story.
I live with my boyfriend who is a photographer. His taste works well with mine, so when we go flea market hunting we usually find objects that we love very much. He’s very techy and precise and that sometimes tames my folklore-ish side. Here’s a look inside my home.
We both have a huge interest in fashion and photography and love collecting books and magazines that we can flick through now and again for inspiration. Kate Moss has always been an iconic figure to me and when her book came out I was over the moon. My two favorite magazines are Mirage and Russh from Australia.
The first time I went to Texas I brought back with me these longhorns. They make the center focus of our living area right above our mantle.
There are a few brass animals around the house that bring a smile to me face and whenever there’s a birthday or celebration we like to make cards.
Whenever I go to attractions I always have to get a souvenir coin from the press machines — my collection is growing.
I’m awful at keeping plants alive, so succulents and cacti have taken over. There are 3 little plants on my mantle.
In the center of my coffee table I have a group of trinkets: vintage hand painted matches, geodes and things that have been collected whilst out and about.
I’m from Wales and these coasters have on them the castles from my country.
A Welsh love spoon hangs above a hand drawn map of Maine.
We have a collection of records and this stool I love very much, especially the wood carving and how the velvet colors have been sun bleached.
My house is painted all white, so pops of colors come from artwork from our friends. This painting is by Kyle Fisher.
The piece of art is by the very talented Kris Chau.
…and this one is by Adam Smith.
My bedroom is completely white. I like it being that way — it’s my little zen area. In the corner I have an air plant hanging in a terrarium and on my window ledge there are a few crystals to absorb negative energy.
This is an old mirror that hangs on my bedroom door that was there when we moved in.
I love wearing a lot of ivory and white and my shoe collection is mainly all black. Below are some of my favorite pieces.
