As promised, I wanted to update you guys on the egg crate garden that I planted in the beginning of March! This has been such a fun project to watch throughout the month and I’m happy to say my plants are growing :).
It took a couple of weeks before they sprouted and I must admit I was a little bit nervous it wasn’t going to work. But seemingly over one weekend they sprouted up! Thanks to my chart that I made, I know that the ones growing the most are the wildflowers (on the left) and the garden herbs (the front center two eggs). I’m really excited that the chamomile is starting to grow, too – they are the tiny sprouts in the bottom right corner egg pictured below.
Have any of you tried planting an egg crate garden? Send photos to blog@freepeople.com, I would love to see!

After seeing this I’m thinking about doing it! I have a container of eggs in the fridge right now, and my husband puts the shells back in after he cracks them to make his breaky…so I just might be able to do this without wasting a bunch of eggs :)
I’m still waiting on mine to sprout. It has only been a week. I planted lavender, rosemary, thyme, and basil.
Are you keeping yours in constant sunlight?
@ Perrin, yes, pretty much! i moved it to a spot with more light and it really started to thrive :)
@ Perrin: I’ve planted lavender, rosemary, thyme, and basil as well xD
Can’t wait til it warms up here officially so I can work out in my veggie patch!
Ahhh…Spring. :)
