Easy Beauty Trick: DIY Tinted Moisturizer For Glowing Skin

If you’re naturally fair-skinned, like I am, spring can be a somewhat difficult transition period.  The first time you wear a t-shirt or shorts, it’s very clear that your skin has been hiding under layers of clothing all winter. There are so many self tanners available these days it can be difficult to select the right one, and often times they leave your skin orange and streaky, which is even worse than being pale. Not to mention, they are pretty pricey (especially the good ones). This easy beauty trick is far cheaper, and the results are amazing! Read on to learn how to make your own tinted moisturizer.

What you need: Your choice of moisturizer and bronzing powder. If you plan on using this on your face mostly, maybe select a gentle lotion intended for the face. If you don’t want the tinted moisturizer to have any scent, use a fragrance-free lotion. As far as the bronzer, this is what makes this such a great homemade solution – you can choose the shade of powder that works best for your skin. The fairer your skin, the lighter the shade of powder you should use. If you’re going for a really dark glow, use a darker powder. Pressed powder works for this too but you just have to work a bit harder to mix it in with the lotion.

Mix equal parts of the lotion and the powder. Mix them together until smooth in consistency.

Test the color out on your hands first and see if you like the shade. This may look dark but once you rub it in to your skin it blends right in and you would never know it’s there!

My arm after applying. It’s hard to tell the effect, so here’s a comparison. Can you tell which arm has the tinted moisturizer on it?

And here’s a before and after shot of the tinted moisturizer on my face:

I love how subtle yet effective it is! Bottle up your tinted moisturizer and apply as needed.

What a cool tutorial! I’m totally going to be trying this with a lotion with a low spf so that I can still be bronzed and safely build a little bit of a base tan! I’m super excited to try this, thanks! :)

Thank you for this. I have never been a fan of the fragrance of most self tanners. I am definitely going to try this though. Fingers crossed that it does not come off on my clothes.

How long does it last? Does it last until you shower and then all come off?

Can you recommend a good powder and shade? I never wear powder, so I don’t know anything about it. “Bronzer”? “Mineral foundation”? Brands? Thanks!

I love the tutorial! I tend to cover up when out in the sun because of skin cancer. I hate wearing dresses because my legs and arms are so white. I will definitely try this and thanks!

If I put sunscreen on after will it come off? I might use a lotion that doesn’t come off with water so when I wash my hands it won’t just come off on my hands haha

Is there any possibility I may sweat it off?
