Summer Drink Recipes: Flavored Ice Cubes

Last week Brigette shared some amazing infused water recipes, and today we have a slight twist on this delicious summer beverage: flavored ice cubes! This was the first time I’ve done this, and I’m officially hooked.  It’s such a great way to add some color and flavor to your water, and – depending on what you put in the cubes – when the ice melts, you can eat what was inside! Here are some of the flavored ice cubes I tried, and the tasty results.

strawberries and basil

I cut the strawberries into smaller pieces to fit in the tray, but left the raspberries and blackberries whole.

Place the trays in the freezer and let them freeze overnight. And now for the results!

strawberry basil flavored ice cubes

The strawberry and basil is my absolute favorite! I could drink this all day, every day. It’s great when the ice melts too, because then you can eat the strawberries!

chamomile and lemon flavored ice cubes

The chamomile and lemon has a very soothing flavor to it, and it looks so pretty!

mixed berry flavored ice cubes

This one was also delicious, and as the ice melts the berries start to stain the water and give it a really pretty tint.

ginger and lemon flavored ice cubes

This was my second favorite – a combo of lemon, ginger, lemongrass and a little bit of mint – crisp and refreshing with a little kick to it.

There are so many things you can do with this – imagine how delicious some of these flavored ice cubes would be in seltzer water, iced tea, or lemonade!

Have you guys ever tried flavored ice cubes? What’s your favorite combo?
