When it comes to putting together an outfit, it’s all about balance. We love mixing vintage with new, cropped with oversized, and masculine with feminine. In our July catalog, Anja Rubik models outfits that show a beautiful mix of boy vs. girl, so I thought now would be the perfect time to talk about one to achieve this look. The trick? It’s all in the shoes.
You can take a super frilly, flowy, girly outfit and add a boyish element with some tough, menswear-inspired shoes. On the other side, you can take a cool, structured look and add a touch of femininity with some strappy flats or a pair of heels!

Love the blog and free people. I have a question. When are you to old to wear free people clothing? I’m hoping your never to old. Im in my early 50’s and still wear a size. 6 and not ready for old people clothes whatever they are! LOL
Debbie – you are never too old! If something makes you feel good, you should wear it. Always! :)
Great tip! Thanks!
