I recently made a visit to Old Westbury Gardens, which is one of the most beautiful places on Long Island. It’s the former property of a very wealthy family, and it’s now open to the public. You can take a stroll through vine-covered paths, dip your feet into refreshing fountains, and even take a tour through the gigantic antique-filled home.
I visited this spot many times as a child, and it was incredible to revisit such a beautiful place – especially because I have a much greater appreciation for natural beauty now that I’m older. Everywhere I walked, I imagined being one of the young girls who used to live there, and what it would have been like to run free through the property, examining every bit of nature and getting lost in the beauty of it all.
Fun fact: This property was actually used during the filming of the movie Cruel Intentions! Do you recognize the house?
