Hitting The Road With Free People

This post comes from Lou, our blogger friend from the UK!

My head is still spinning from that weekend of rambling and adventure-seeking I had as a rookie Free People gal on their Cornwall road trip last weekend. We had ourselves a time… and a half!

It was with such a happy heart that I first learned that Free People were branching out to my homeland of the UK. I first discovered the brand through a Californian friend and Free People’s vision of the freewheelin’, bohemian moon-child woman sung to me instantly. The ‘Free People girl’ was a girl after my own heart.

With all that said I was only too happy to join the FP crew in their VW camper in Newquay, Cornwall to spread the word to my fellow Brits!

By day we set up camp by the golden sands of Fistral beach amongst the body boarders and the bucket and spade and pin-wheel vendors to hand out brochures, offer free hair braiding and host seashell necklace DIYs. The sun performed a little peep-show for us on Saturday but by Sunday she wasn’t so shy and beamed brightly for us all day long. The crowds were lured by the turquoise camper, a real feast for the eyeballs, and locals and tourists alike were seduced by the rail of Free People clothing product we had set up by the van. Every man and his dog stopped by to shoot the breeze and see what we were about…including this darling baby British Bulldog. She completely stole my heart!

By night we hitched our wagon to some of the coolest beach bars in town and hosted live music, giveaways, sunflowers and free champagne for all who gathered. The sun-bleached, dread-locked flowerchild locale of Newquay were the perfect audience for some beautiful music-making by Jamie Beau and Alice Jemima in Cafe Irie on Friday night, while on Sunday night London-based band Wolf Alice raised hell at the Fistral Beach Bar.

On the Saturday evening we kicked back and chugged fresh juices at the Beached Lamb while DJs spun vinyl and the girls got crafty making seashell-in-a-bottle necklaces for the DIY stand the following day.

It was a wonderful trip filled with adventure and discovery, getting sandy and sea-salty, late night jams and early morning asanas, for sun hats and silver jewellery and making memories and new friends on the sunny beaches of Newquay.

Thank you Free People for the sun and the sand and the golden opportunity.

Peace!

Seems like a dream <3 I've always been into the hippie bohemian style since I was just a little sprout, but I could only imagine if this were how I found out about Free People. What a great idea to share the FP love, you guys rock!

It was great fun to have these guys hire our van. They had some great ranges of clothes to offer.
