zodiac sign illustrationSCORPIO

October 23–November 21

Saturn has been in your sign for 13 months, and this week the sun meets up with the taskmaster planet. They came together a few weeks after Saturn entered Scorpio last fall and will conjoin again next November, soon before Saturn moves into Sagittarius. This has the feel of a halfway point, a time to assess how far you’ve come and how far you have to go. Because Saturn is all about measuring. When astrologers advise you to “do your Saturn,” they mean do all the hard stuff you probably don’t feel like doing but know you should, so you’re in line to earn what you deserve. Saturn makes you work for it, something you know all too well by now. Once you’ve broken down what needs to be done, allow Mars to nudge you into strategic action. Mental Mercury in Scorp syncs with Venus and Neptune and then turns direct, helping you get to the bottom of what you want. So put constructive contemplation and one action step on the week’s agenda.

zodiac sign illustrationSAGITTARIUS

November 22–December 21

The sun meets up with skeptical Saturn in your house of self-undoing this week, revealing where you may be undermining yourself with uncharacteristic negativity. Pinpoint a cobweb of doubt in the corner of your brain, and clean it out with positive self-talk. Your ruling planet Jupiter is going retrograde for the next four months, so such positivity might not be so second nature to you for awhile. Circumstances are changing, putting an area of life where you were aspiring to expand in limbo. It needn’t dampen your spirits, as you can use this time to explore how you might blend pragmatism and optimism to ultimately increase not only your chances for success, but also your wisdom. Jupiter, which rules faith and beliefs, is in a part of your chart that involves transformation, so its retrograde phase gives your natural hopefulness a chance to mature and gain profundity. Motivated by your personal resolve, do something specific this week to advance a goal.

zodiac sign illustrationCAPRICORN

December 22–January 19

Networking is favored this week, thanks to congenial Venus entering Capricorn and the sun and Mars clicking with Saturn in your group sector. Mars calls you to take targeted action to build an alliance that supports common goals. Because of the signs and houses that Mars and Saturn are in, the more your behavior is motivated by a desire for usefulness and empowerment of the group, the more success you’ll have. Despite Mercury remaining retrograde most of the week, your interactions should be fairly smooth, as Venus in Cap makes nice with Mercury and with sensitive Neptune in your talk sector. You’ll have a better sense of how to gel with people, so reach out to clear up any confusion that may have arisen recently. Because Venus turns retrograde in December, she’ll visit your sign for four months instead of her usual few weeks. Coincidentally, Jupiter enters its four-month retrograde phase now in your relationship angle—so your one-on-one connections will be spotlighted until March and could teach you a lot.

zodiac sign illustrationAQUARIUS

January 20–February 18

Employment and career goals remain center stage for you this week as the energetic sun and fired-up Mars connect with deliberate Saturn in your ambition angle. In the past year, you’ve become more and more conscious of what it takes to be successful in the world. Having to earn it every step of the way is arduous, and being tested can motivate you to rise to the challenge but can also wear you out. With a few planets clustered at the top of your chart, it feels like you’re climbing a mountain. Be patient if achievement is taking longer than you’d like. With enthused Jupiter turning retrograde in your duty sector, it’s important that you locate an inner source of faith—faith that you will end up doing the work you were meant to do. Mars is pushing you to conduct more research on a goal, seek out a partner or pursue outside funding now. Now that Mercury is going direct, job-related info will hopefully begin to flow in.

zodiac sign illustrationPISCES

February 19–March 20

Esteemed Venus enters your group sector this week, where she’ll hang out until March, boosting your social life and networking and reminding you of the value of friends and contacts. She’s in sync with Neptune in Pisces now, helping you to bond with people seamlessly via your sensitivity, compassion and intuitiveness, so put yourself in circulation. Venus is also clicking with communicative Mercury in your inspiration zone, making this a good week to reach out to potential allies and talk up your ideas that you believe in. Over the next four months, make a concerted effort to cultivate a support team of people from your personal and professional lives. Not only can they cheer you on, but they can also ground you if you’re doing lots of dreaming but not much planning. A partner may help you to get serious now, as activating Mars in your relationship angle jibes with ambitious Saturn in your belief house. Having faith in your own capability doesn’t mean not asking for help.

zodiac sign illustrationARIES

March 21–April 19

Saturn, the archetypal wise elder, has been in your sharing sector for the past year, giving lessons on partnership and trust. You’ve likely teamed with an older or more experienced person in your personal or professional life; learned a lot about yourself through psychotherapy, a crisis or a loss; made a serious commitment to someone; or gone through a breakup. Two outgoing planets—the sun and your ruler Mars—join forces with authoritative Saturn this week, reiterating the value of collaboration. And Mars’s position in your efficiency zone underscores the importance of discipline and focus. Whatever Saturn has been teaching you, you have a chance to apply it in a highly productive way now if you concentrate your efforts. To hone in on Saturn, think in terms of what has felt heavy but necessary, not to mention slower going than you, as an Aries, would like. What has been maturing you lately? Find one smart thing you can do this week to build on that.

zodiac sign illustrationTAURUS

April 20–May 20

With desirous Venus dancing into your big-ideas house this week, your spirits should lift as you start to feel yourself wanting more out of life. Then when she harmonizes with idealistic Neptune in your hopes sector and thinker Mercury in your relationship angle, dreams for the future—perhaps including shared adventures—kick into higher gear. The effects of these planetary angles tend to be subtle, so it’s better to take advantage of the windows of opportunity they present than to wait for them to do their thing. So if you don’t find yourself desiring and dreaming, encourage yourself to. Make a wish list, opening your mind to brand new possibilities. Think about what you want to draw into your life and what you want your one-on-one and group connections to feel like. Write down a travel destination and companion, plus something you want to become more of an expert on. Then get to planning.

zodiac sign illustrationGEMINI

May 21–June 20

Even though your ruling planet is still retrograde most of the week, its positive encounters with Venus and Neptune begin to turn the tide in your favor. Pleasing Venus is now in your closeness zone, and if Mercury’s backtracking phase during the past couple of weeks has engendered misunderstandings, you have a chance to mend fences, especially if you lead with your heart. Humor and amiability will get you even farther than the right words. Intuitive Neptune is in your ambition angle, while Mercury is in your work sector, and their meetup could help you to understand what will nudge you over the hump to achieving a goal. Retrogrades are good for going back and tying up loose ends, so try to get a sense of what you can fix in order to get where you want to go. Review the following, and see what clicks: health, job skills, diet, fitness, daily habits, routine responsibilities, usefulness, productiveness, work ethic and time management.

zodiac sign illustrationCANCER

June 21–July 22

With Mercury remaining retrograde in your self-expression zone until Sunday, you feel like there’s a love or creativity bottleneck inside you that’s ready to start flowing freely again. Saturn in this part of your chart bonds with the vibrant sun and vigorous Mars, showing that you’re quite serious about putting more of yourself out into the world—though perhaps a little tired of trying at the moment. Amiable and artistic Venus crosses your relationship angle, reiterating that you want to share something with people and make a connection. Since late June, Jupiter’s presence in your sign has filled you with aspirations, and now it’s entering its retrograde phase that will last for four months. During this time, your momentum slows and your enthusiasm may wane if the world stops meeting you halfway. But your growth continues, as you turn inward and seek your own counsel, reevaluating which goals resonate most deeply with you. Adjust your timetable, and for the time being, aim for wisdom more than success.

zodiac sign illustrationLEO

July 23–August 22

Sobering Saturn has been in your foundation angle for the last year, asking you to take a hard look at a personal issue and chip away at it. This issue concerns your home, your family, your private emotions or your childhood—possibly some combination thereof. When your ruling planet the sun conjoins Saturn this week, it can help you to shine a light on what you need to be working on. But with Saturn’s restrictive energy and the sun’s natural vitality, sometimes when these two come together, we feel depleted. Try to get extra rest if you need it, but also attempt to sharpen your focus and consolidate your strength. Rethink the issue that’s been drawing your attention this year, and ask yourself if there’s something specific you can do to incorporate the lesson it’s been teaching you. Valuable Venus has just moved into your daily-routine sector and is syncing with mental Mercury, showing you the power of fusing thought and practice.

zodiac sign illustrationVIRGO

August 23–September 22

Although Mercury doesn’t go direct until Sunday, its harmonious meetings with affectionate Venus in your self-expression house and perceptive Neptune in your relationship angle could make it seem like your brain and your mouth are functioning optimally again. Still, there’s something to be said for the detours that retrogrades impose on us. In the case of Mercury, it’s our communication and cognition that take circuitous routes. Right now, you’re apt to express yourself charmingly, intuit how to connect with someone, feel more attuned to others’ emotional states and show your own emotions with relative ease. You may get your message across a little differently than expected, but your interactions have the potential to generate plenty of positive feelings. You also might tap into your imagination without having to try very hard, so milk any opportunity for creativity. Doer Mars in your sign is clicking with serious Saturn in your mindset house, helping you to see projects through to the end. Throw yourself into your work, and you’ll see results.

zodiac sign illustrationLIBRA

September 23–October 22

Your ruling planet changes signs this week, moving into your roots angle for an extended stay. Venus usually only spends a few weeks in each sign, but because she’s turning retrograde in December, she’ll linger in one house of your chart for the next four months. This house rules family, private emotions, memories, home life, comfort, real estate and childhood and parental issues. With expansive Jupiter going retrograde right now in your ambition sector, your career progress will start to slow, so shifting your focus to domestic matters and your inner life may happen naturally. Venus is gelling with pensive Mercury in your values zone and yearning Neptune in your routine sector, calling you to ponder your priorities and your daily habits and responsibilities. Do you need a self-soothing practice at the end of the day? Would de-cluttering your environment make you feel like your life is more together? Are you waking up to something beautiful? Begin to think about how you can improve the quality of your home base.
