December 22–January 19
Mercury enters your sign this week, bringing the gift of communication, and with a total of four planets in Capricorn now, you’re firing on all cylinders. There are days that support that and days that don’t, so be prepared to adapt. The sun and Mercury sync up with fluent Neptune in your talk sector, enabling you to connect somewhat effortlessly and intuitively in conversations. Playing up one of Neptune’s qualities—empathy—will probably make it easier to face the momentary tensions that are bound to occur. Try to understand where other people are coming from rather than worrying about who’s right. Combative Mars and combustible Uranus oppose each other across your parental axis on Christmas Day, and you might feel like you’re in the middle of the friction. Plus planets in Cap have their own issues with Uranus, potentially starting a disagreement between you and a family member. Accept ahead of time that there will be some surprises this week, and make the choice to step back rather than escalate things if you get annoyed.
January 20–February 18
Mental Mercury sneaks into your seclusion sector this week, bringing the total of planets there to four and making you feel increasingly less gregarious. The sun and Mercury are both linking with ethereal Neptune, so intuition, creativity, spirituality, emotional attunement, compassion, sleep and solitude are favored. Your ruling planet Uranus is in your cognition-and-communication zone and harassing three other planets, suggesting anxious thoughts, impatience, boredom and speaking without thinking could lead to problems. Instead of getting sucked into a difference of opinion or instigating conflict just to shake things up, take a positive approach and try doing something totally different that breaks with your holiday traditions. If you’re not wedded to a particular outcome, you’ll be happier with whatever results you get. With so many planets in the last house of your chart, you probably need more time alone than you’re used to, and Christmas week may feel like the wrong time to go off by yourself. But even getting up before everyone else to meditate or taking a solo walk in the woods will clear your mind and improve your mood.
February 19–March 20
Make an effort to see your friends and go to parties this week, since the sun and Mercury are in your network sector harmonizing with Neptune in your sign. Neptune should have a unifying effect, helping you to feel at ease with people and get lost in the moment. With four planets in this part of your chart, you’ll derive pleasure from being around groups of people, so don’t keep to yourself. It’s important to have an exchange of energy between you and others, as it will inspire you. However, Mercury and the sun are also having difficulties with erratic Uranus in your worth zone, so up-and-down confidence or money worries could cause discord. Uranus is hassling three planets, so we’ll all have to be a little flexible to keep the peace. It faces off with catalyst Mars in your sharing house, making a close relationship the arena in which drama may unfold. Neptune increases your intuition and helps you find the right thing to say. If you do run into turbulence, don’t take it personally and don’t be an emotional sponge, soaking up a negative atmosphere.
March 21–April 19
As mental Mercury joins the sun, Venus and Pluto in your ambition angle this week, your mind turns to goals. And with the sun and Mercury forming opportune angles with dissolving Neptune in your endings zone, the old adage about one door closing and another opening could prove correct. Try releasing something, and see if that starts to free up your energy and focus for something else. Your impulse to overthrow the old order may spur you on, though it’s likely to feel as unsettling as it does exciting. An opposition between your ruling planet Mars in your relationship house and rebellious Uranus in your sign on Christmas Day provides the ingredients for a fight. Considering the physical nature of Mars, you’d be smart to channel aggression into exercise. Another positive use of the electricity in the air would be to do something a bit radical, shaking up tradition and celebrating in a fresh way instead of letting impatience lead to a blowup. It’s hard not to be headstrong with Uranus in Aries in a fighting mood, putting you at the center of the maelstrom. If you need to, do what Uranus does: disengage.
April 20–May 20
This is a good week for seeing friends and going to parties, since Neptune in your network sector is syncing with the sun and Mercury in your adventure zone. Positive energy and thoughts will nourish the symbiosis between you and others that you’ve been longing for. Loosening up and feeling free will allow you to click more naturally with a group. Your upbeat outlook could be upset by an unconscious compulsion to upset the apple cart, though. Uranus in your subliminal house has been triggering an internal instability for some time now that you can’t quite put your finger on, and he skirmishes with three other planets this week, increasing the chances that you’ll inadvertently undermine yourself before you’ve had a chance to understand what’s going on. For starters, accept that there’s a part of you that wants to rebel and instigate change. Criticism or insistence on doing things a particular way will clash with that part of you on Christmas Day, when Mars faces off with Uranus. Resist the temptation to be stubborn, and instead give yourself some time out if you’re feeling edgy.
May 21–June 20
Your ruling planet Mercury dives into the depths of your intimacy house this week, facilitating conversations of real substance. One-on-one time could take on a romantic or spiritual tone, given Mercury’s link to ethereal Neptune at the top of your chart. Surrendering to and reveling in a feeling of closeness is the most natural course you could take now, but you may suddenly find the atmosphere between you and someone else stifling, when both Mercury and the sun in your intimacy house have a dispute with detached Uranus in your humanity sector. If closeness does become uncomfortable, you might react by escaping to the relative freedom of a large gathering. Be honest about how you’re feeling if you need space, and try not to do anything overly rash. An opposition between assertive Mars in your self-expression house and live-wire Uranus on Christmas Day is apt to pit doing your own thing against the seemingly capricious inclination of the group. An argument could easily erupt, but an innovative compromise may avert it.
June 21–July 22
Communication is key this week, with verbal Mercury crossing into your relationship house, where the sun, Venus and Pluto have been hanging. If you aim to be a good listener, awaken your desire to learn and remain open to foreign ideas, beliefs and opinions, you’ll get the most out of this time. The spotlight is not on you right now, but if you’re sincerely interested in what others have to share, you won’t mind. Go with the flow and be a little spontaneous. Mars, Mercury and the sun all run into trouble with unpredictable Uranus throughout the week, and the Mars-Uranus skirmish could make Christmas Day rather turbulent if everyone isn’t flexible enough to roll with it. Since Mars is in your domestic angle and it’s a planet associated with temper, family drama is a strong possibility. But Uranus is about inventiveness, a broad perspective and accommodating quirks—meaning an unemotional, fresh approach that aims to keep everyone happy is the way to go. You may have the urge to bolt, but that could provoke people, so try instead to get distance from the situation in your head.
July 23–August 22
Your ruler the sun sees plenty of action this week, and his current position in your health-and-work house suggests that you have the energy to take care of business. But with four planets in this house now, one tendency to guard against would be becoming overly critical or insisting on things being a certain way that you think is right. If you’re mindful enough to notice the little things about people that are worth appreciating, you’ll find a natural closeness develops between you. Adopt a spirit of service, aiming to be useful and helpful, and the same close feeling is likely to happen. Watch out for petty differences of opinion, since disruptive Uranus in your beliefs sector is battling three planets and could cause an argument to break out rather suddenly. Keep an open mind, and trust that we all have something to learn from each other if we’re humble enough to take on the role of student at times. At the end of the week, you might want to think about how your job, your health, your habits or your daily routine should change next year to better fit your vision of the future.
August 23–September 22
Your ruler Mercury skips into your self-expression house this week, joining the sun, Venus and Pluto there and heightening your inclination to do you. This house is sort of the teenager of the chart, symbolizing fun, romance, hobbies, sports, joy, personal fulfillment and exploration of identity. Somewhat confusingly, all of this could alternately draw others in or push them away. So put yourself out there and express what’s in your heart, and hope that people will pick up on your best intentions and enjoy your unique contribution. Surprising moments of intense closeness may occur, but someone may just not get where you’re coming from, and you have to be okay with that. Try not to get too stubborn about what’s important to you or become overly territorial or possessive, because Mars in your values zone is squabbling with detached Uranus in your sharing sector on Christmas Day, giving us all a rather short fuse. Stay flexible and treat sudden shifts in mood or changes in plan like stimulating surprises. Relating is a theme for Virgos this week, and a peaceful holiday will require plenty of give-and-take.
September 23–October 22
The planets have their ups and downs this week, but at least when Mercury enters your domestic sector to join three other planets there, the timing seems apropos if you’re celebrating the holidays with family or in the comfort of your home. With mental Mercury and the supercharged sun in sync with synergistic Neptune in your routine sector, you’re able to get into a rhythm and feel emotionally satisfied with how you’re spending your time. If you want to change your work, improve your health or let go of a habit, it’s a great time to address such issues. And in keeping with the season, it’s also an ideal week for performing a service to others that stems from your spirituality. Unpredictable Uranus in your relationship angle conflicts with three other planets this week, so don’t count on cooperation. You’re better off hedging your bets when it comes to others, giving them tons of leeway to march to their own drummer. Even though Libras have a gift for bringing people together, aggressive Mars is in your sign, opposing Uranus on Christmas Day and potentially triggering strife. Don’t push, and expect the unexpected.
October 23–November 21
Your mind is very busy, with Mercury moving into your cognition sector where three other planets are already hanging. So much energy concentrated in this house means not only lots of thoughts flooding your head, but plenty of communication and activity swirling around you. You’ll be more verbal than usual and more able to express your uniqueness and articulate what’s in your heart. Play, romance, creativity and time with children will make you feel particularly at one with life, as two of the planets in your mindset house are connecting with fluid Neptune in your joie-de-vivre sector. But a change in plans, a health issue or responsibilities popping up may rattle you, as destabilizing Uranus in your routine zone fights with three other planets. Since these planets are in your verbal sector and your subliminal angle, you’re apt to speak out of turn or act out unconsciously when you get frustrated. Even though this week’s planetary discord is ill timed for the holidays, we can make the best of it by being highly adaptable and vowing to enjoy changes and surprises.
November 22–December 21
With Mercury leaving your sign and entering your worth zone to join three other planets there, your mind may turn to money, possessions, values, self-esteem and priorities. When both the sun and Mercury click with idealistic Neptune in your comfort sector, you’ll be focused on what you already have and what you long to have that will give you a feeling of security. You’re yearning for a place to call home, spirituality that centers you or a knowingness that you’re safe and strong and able to take care of yourself. Your level of confidence or thoughts and conversations about money may not mesh well with letting loose and enjoying yourself, and your frustration could lead to a disagreement. If things do get tense, be willing to cede some ground, because digging in your heels will only make matters worse. Christmas Day could either be combative or surprising and stimulating, depending partly on how well you balance competing forces. Make the choice to roll with whatever happens and celebrate in a different way if you can.
