Today is officially the shortest day of the year… while that thought may cast an image of darkness in the mind, I like to think of it in a positive way. Starting tomorrow, the days will slowly become longer and longer. The sun will flirt with the earth, waking up earlier in the morning and lingering for a few extra moments before it bids the day goodnight. Winter is upon us, but we know that spring is just around the corner, waiting to warm our skin again. Here’s some inspiration for the winter months, and links to some blog posts you may find useful :).

Happy Winter Solstice! We celebrated last night with friends…great food, drinks & music…
I’ve always enjoyed yule. Nothing is more relaxing & inspiring than a calm, dark, mysterious night. To me, night is a deep, wild, spiritual thing. I love what Antoine de Saint-Exupery said, “Night, the beloved. Night, when words fade and things come alive. When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again. When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree.”
Apparently a lot of people get depressed easily or lose energy in winter. Think of winter positively. It’s nature’s cleansing ritual, like a detox for the earth. The cold kills germs & keeps insects under control so we can be healthier the following year. Snow removes the dead branches from trees, freezes seeds so they can awaken to grow at their appointed time, & washes away the old leaving a clean fresh spring. Winter is a time to be extra grateful because without winter, we would not have a nice spring or summer.
