It was a slightly rainy Tuesday evening. As I walked down the sidewalk, I paid careful attention to every inhale and exhale I took – something I’ve been trying to do more and more lately. I entered Liana’s home and she greeted me with the warmest hug and most genuine smile. I was there to receive my first ever Access Bars treatment (which I spoke of here, and you can learn more about here), and I was really excited for what was to come.
After dabbing on a bit of the most gorgeously scented jasmine rose oil, sipping on some water, and chit-chatting with this awesome girl, it was time to get started. Liana began by asking me, the following question:
She spoke quickly, and I must admit I wasn’t exactly sure of what she had said. But I knew it sounded good. I answered with a hesitant yet honest “Yes!” and then heard her follow with this statement: “Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 9, shorts, boys, and beyonds.”
I knew nothing of what that could mean, but I would later find out…
It was then time to lay on the table. I was a little chilly, so Liana tucked a blanket around me like a cocoon. So sweet. I closed my eyes and Liana asked what I most hoped to get out of this session.
As soon as the words began to come out of her mouth, my mind started racing. I thought about the digestive issues I’ve been experiencing for years… my skin issues… anxiety…
But then I heard her finish the question. “Anything,” She said. “Think big.”
Suddenly, in my mind, it was no longer about just me. It was about everyone and everything. After all, we’re all connected.
“I guess I would want for everyone to be happy at all times.” I meant it.
Liana used her hands to feel a point on my head, then one on my feet, and then went back to my head for the rest of the session. In the beginning, I was very alert. I listened to my breathing, and heard hers, too. I paid close attention to the fingers pressing on my head, and how this made me feel. Within the first few minutes, I developed a slight headache. This is a rare thing for me, but not so rare for Access Bars. Liana had told me that people can feel all different kinds of sensations during a session. It quickly dissipated, though, and I felt more and more relaxed with every passing moment.
I was in such a deep state of relaxation that I can’t even tell you whether or not I fell asleep at any point. I have no idea. Maybe I did. I suppose it doesn’t really matter either way.
The treatment may have lasted about an hour, but I’m not sure of the time — and it’s better off that way. I don’t believe that time is real, anyway… :)
I opened my eyes and sat up on the table. I felt an incredible sense of calmness over me. “I don’t even know if I should drive right now,” I admitted. “I kind of feel drunk.”
Liana told me I could stay as long as I needed, so I hung out for a bit until I was ready to go.
Liana wrote down some affirmations — like little magic spells — for me to put into practice in my daily life. The first is one that is helpful to say 10 times in the morning and 10 times before bed. Just hearing yourself speak (or think) these words can wash a sense of calm over you.
The ending — with ease, joy, and glory — can (and should) be tacked onto anything that you’re wishing, wanting, hoping, or asking for, according to Liana. After all, you can have everything you’ve ever dreamed of, but if it doesn’t come with ease, joy, and glory, it may just come with stress, anxiety, and hardship.
Another interesting concept is the idea that a feeling we experience may not be our own. We all have these energies — these oras — that surround us, and we’re constantly walking right through these energy fields of other people. So when you suddenly feel angry or sad or anxious, or even sick… we can ask ourselves, “Is this mine or someone else’s?” This allows us to realize that we have a choice as to whether we’d like to experience this negative feeling. We follow with “Return to sender with consciousness” — so that the energy goes back to where it came, and then finish with the clearing statement that I had heard Liana say right before my treatment:
Each of the words that make up this clearing statement has a meaning behind it. Those who practice Access Bars are taught these meanings, but it isn’t necessary to know them by heart in order for them to do their job. They’re designed to clear whatever energy needs to be cleared just by being thought or spoken.
Another question Liana wrote down for me is:
This is a great one to use when creativity is needed, a solution is required, or even when you aren’t getting the answer you’re looking for in a certain situation. I found myself asking this aloud last night when I was rearranging my bedroom. I wasn’t necessarily looking for a concrete answer… I just wanted to pose the question to get my creativity flowing. Did it work? Well, all I can say is that I’m very pleased with the way it all came together.
And last but not least:
Liana explained how this is an awesome question to pose in a romantic relationship. When things are good, “How does it get any better than this?” When things are tough, “How does it get any better than this?” Either way, it’s all positive.
I left Liana’s home with a smile on my face and an eagerness to put this new information to use. She is so full of wisdom and positivity, it’s hard not to feel enlightened after spending a few moments in her presence.
A few days after my treatment, Liana checked in to see how I was doing. She asked if I’ve noticed anything change in myself or the world…
I answered with, “I haven’t noticed anything really huge, but more just a sense of calmness and appreciation that I feel overall.. Kind of like a reassurance that everything is okay.”
How did she respond? “That sounds pretty huge to me :)”, and went on to say that the feeling I mentioned touches everything else within myself, as well as my world.
And you know what? She’s exactly right.
