We are constantly inspired by the users in our FP Me community, but one in particular has really caught our eye. You may recognize her from winning our BLDG 25 Love Award for FP Me Trendsetter. From her cool boho style to her beautiful blonde locks, Mary Ellen Skye has an FP Me profile that is full of pics that are beautifully thought out and captured in just the right way. Her poses are always on point, and she always finds a way to add in a little surprise to her outfits (i.e. little flower crowns behind her wavy hair, and a twinkle of jewelry that peeks out in all of the right places). Read on to find out a little bit more about this trendsetter.
Where are you from? How did where you grew up shape the person that you are?
I’m from Atlanta, Georgia but reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. I grew up very close to my family and feel they are a huge part of who I am! Being in a big city as a kid was great — we would go to Buckhead and I would get stars in my eyes seeing all the architecture and little fashion boutiques — definitely helped mold my style from the start.
How do you spend most of your days?
Most days I’m busy working in the salon as a stylist. But on my days off, I’m usually working out (slightly addicted to group exercise classes), going on coffee breaks with friends, and dates with my best friend/husband!
Describe your personal style.
My personal style is such a mix! I lean towards a more structured look in the fall/winter, and a more free flowing layered look in the summer. I love layering and I never wear anything the same way twice — forces creativity.
What Free People girl do you relate the most with?
I relate most with Lou and Meadow.
Your FP Me pics evoke a special mood. Where are some of your favorite locations to shoot at? Does anyone help you take the pictures?
Most of my photos are taken on my way out the door to work, so usually they are just taken in my yard by my husband Jacob :) (such a good sport). All my photos are taken with an iPhone 5 too.
What inspires you the most?
I’m inspired constantly! A beautiful day outside, a spontaneous road trip, coffee in the morning…so much to be excited about to not get inspired! I just love living life fully every day, and a big part of that for me is playing dress up!
Who is your favorite style icon?
I love the Olsen twins, Tasya Van Ree, Rachel Zoe & Alexa Chung :).
When/why did you start your blog, and what is your favorite thing about blogging?
I originally started my blog as a digital scrapbook of sorts — now I am trying to get more involved with it but I need a computer first (mine died) so right now I’m just on my Tumblr & do everything from my phone!
Three things you can’t live without…?
Modern Vice boots, black skinnies, iPhone.
Ruffled Up Cami, FP Pull On Flares, Sweetheart Seamless Cami
What music are you listening to right now?
The Radio Dept. – Heaven’s On Fire
What are your top 5 current Free People items on your wishlist?
On The Road Romper, Drifter Slouchy Pullover, Aztec Bib Dress, Roaring Rayon Jumpsuit, Tailored Pocket Flare.

This girl has serious style! I loved her line about constantly being inspired by everything! I completely agree with her.. Everything should inspire us to be creative, happy people and live life to the fullest! Thanks for inspiring!!
Wow, so happy she uses an iPhone… I just lost my camera. It’s somewhere in the apartment so idk what happened, but the photos are great. Makes me feel better about using a phone for everything. :)
I absolutely love her style! She pulls everything off so perfectly :)
Ahhhh, I follow her instagram, she is so so perfect.

I’ve been following her on instagram for a while- she’s adorable! Perfect person to feature.
Her heat styled hair and excessive makeup sort of contradicts her bohemian outfits…
This girl is adorable. So hippie chic. I love that the chances she takes. Just adorable.
Wow, I’m incredibly surprised at her style icons because she has more style than all her “icons” put together, which usually look like bag ladies. I love her style if she learned from her icons then the pupil has surpassed the masters.
i love her style and lighting effect from natural.
